"Ob, you're amazing, son. I'm so proud of you," Brick said, kissing his son on both cheeks.
"Grandpa, Grandma, this is Ob's medal," little Ob showed his medal to Brick's parents. They also kissed Ob on the cheeks.
"Ah Maa, Ah Nee, Ah Nik, Ob is great," Ob showed the medal to everyone present. All three of them ruffled Ob's hair affectionately.
"A medal for Anda," Ob took the medal from around his own neck and offered it to his younger brother. Everyone paused for a moment.
"Thank you," Brick said, before letting Ob put the medal around his brother's neck. As soon as Anda had something hanging around his neck, he immediately tried to put it in his mouth. Brick quickly took it away.
"Ha ha, it's not food, Nong Anda," Mac said, laughing. Brick quickly wiped it clean with a wet tissue.
"Uuuuurgh," Anda protested, unhappy that Brick had taken the medal, but immediately grabbed it back when Brick returned it.
"Nong Anda likes it," Ob said, smiling. The little boy was happy that his brother liked his gift. A childish thought blossomed in Ob's mind: he wanted to get more medals like this to give to his brother.
"Let's go! Let's go get something to eat. Let's celebrate Nong Ob getting his medal," Neil suggested. They went to a Thai restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Neil had already reserved a table, and they all got into the car and headed to the restaurant immediately.
Upon arrival, everyone entered the restaurant and went to their table. Little Anda remained in his stroller, as it was almost time for his milk. Day took Ob to wash his hands and face in the restroom. The restaurant had high chairs for children, so Ob had no problem eating.
"Ob," Day called, lifting Ob onto his strong lap. Ob looked up at Day.
"Yes?" Ob replied.
"Did you have fun at the competition?" Day asked. Everyone looked at Ob expectantly, eager to hear his answer.
"Fun!" Ob replied with a smile.
"If Uncle Nan takes you to another competition like this, would you want to go?" Day continued.
"Yes!" Ob replied, nodding vigorously. Everyone smiled with satisfaction.
"And you weren't tired, Ob?" Day asked. He knew his son understood the word "tired."
"Not ti-red. Ob liked it," Ob replied. Although he didn't pronounce it perfectly, everyone understood.
"Ob, you did great! We're all so proud of you," Day said, kissing his son's forehead. Ob smiled, leaned in to hug Day, and rested his head against Day's chest. Day gently stroked his son's back.
"Alright, champ, come sit down quickly, so you can eat," Brick said. Day lifted Ob and seated him in the high chair between himself and Brick. Brick leaned over and kissed his son's head. Ob put his arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. Brick chuckled. Anda was currently drinking his milk, being fed by Mac.
"Ob will give it to Anda," Ob announced.
"Give what to your brother?" Brick's father asked.
"Give...the...the shiny thing," Ob couldn't remember the word.
"The medal?" Nick asked, understanding what his nephew meant.
"Yes, the round shiny thing," Ob replied, smiling.
"You're going to win them and give them to Nong Anda, right?" Brick's mother asked.
"Yes, Ob will give lots and lots to Nong Anda. Nong Anda likes them," Ob replied, noticing his brother clutching his medal tightly and trying to put it in his mouth. He clearly liked it a lot. Everyone smiled at this.
