Chapter 113: Bringing Forth Accusations
The biggest advantage of having a man in the house is having someone to handle the heavy lifting.
As she watched her brother park the car in the garage, Song Yimo said, “Grandma, you go upstairs first. I’ll stay down here and keep an eye on things.”
“Alright, but stand in the shade, don’t get sunburned.”
“Got it.”
Zhai Muyang stepped out of the garage, hands behind his back, and walked over to them. He extended both fists toward them.
“Yimo, Grandma, put out your hands.”
“What’s with the theatrics?” Grandma scolded gently, though she still held out her hand.
Song Yimo, with a knowing smile, extended hers as well.
Zhai Muyang smiled as he opened his fists, and a set of keys fell into their palms.
“The keys to the new home. Take good care of them.”
Grandma’s smile froze, her lips trembling before she finally let out a sigh. “Now it really feels like I’m moving into a new place.”
“You’ll feel right at home after a few days here.”
Just then, a moving truck pulled up in front of them, and two workers jumped out.
“Boss.”
“Start unloading and be careful with everything.”
Turning to Song Yimo, Zhai Muyang continued, “Yimo, you and Grandma go upstairs first. The things we brought over yesterday still need organizing, and you’ll just be in the way down here.”
Song Yimo pulled her gaze from the keys. “I’ll stay down here and keep watch. Dage, you go up and tell them where to put everything, so we don’t have to keep moving things around.”
Zhai Muyang glanced at the sun, not yet blazing, and nodded. “Alright, but stand in the shade and don’t get sunburned.”
Song Yimo moved to a shaded spot, unable to resist touching the keys again and again, her heart brimming with joy.
The largest key must be for the front door.
The second largest? She wasn’t sure.
And the three smaller ones?
One was definitely for her own room, one was probably for the common area on the first floor, and the last… could it be for the study?
A sudden screech of brakes jolted her, and she looked up to see Miao Zhiruo, practically fuming, approaching at full speed.
“Song! Yi!! Mo!!!”
Miao Zhiruo jumped off her bike, letting it fall to the ground, and stormed over, wrapping her hands around Song Yimo’s neck and giving a playful squeeze. “You idiot! How could you keep something this big from me? If I hadn’t gone looking for you and heard the news myself, were you just planning to move and not tell me?”
Song Yimo gently took Miao Zhiruo’s loose hands off her neck, soothing her fiery-eyed friend. “I only found out yesterday that we had somewhere to move to. Before that, I thought we’d have to rent a place for a while.”
“Couldn’t you have told me yesterday?”
“Yesterday, I was so shocked I could barely think straight.”
Miao Zhiruo frowned. “Did Song Zhi spew more trash at you? He’s like a rabid dog. Why waste your time on him?”
“You’ll understand soon enough.” Unable to hold back her joy in front of her closest friend, Song Yimo let her smile spread. Miao Zhiruo was the one person she trusted completely to share her secrets.
