Chapter 114: When Grown-Ups Step In

Song Yimo chuckled, settling down beside Miao Zhiruo.

Miao Zhiruo tilted her head, looking concerned. “Yimo, are you really sure it’s okay to stay at Zhai Dage’s place like this?”

Song Yimo glanced back at her thoughtfully.

“He’s been so good to you—so good it makes me uneasy. Yimo, do you really trust him?”

“What do you think I have that Dage doesn’t already have or can’t get?”

Who dares to say that a person who can negotiate business with the government has no ability?

Miao Zhiruo sighed, a bit exasperated. “Exactly! The better he is, the more I wonder. It just feels…uncertain.”

“Then don’t think about it,” Song Yimo said, standing and pulling Miao Zhiruo up with her. “Why worry over nothing? Come on, check out my room.”

“I’d better not look; I might get too attached and want to move in,” Miao Zhiruo joked, but she still began to look around. Finally, she settled down on the window seat, unable to tear herself away.

“I knew you’d like this spot too.” Song Yimo smiled, sitting down on the bed and grabbing a cute plush toy to cuddle.

Turning back, Miao Zhiruo saw Song Yimo’s serene expression, holding the soft toy with a gentle smile. She was so beautiful at that moment that Miao Zhiruo couldn’t help but think, 'Silly Yimo, who says you have nothing worth wanting? You’re the treasure here.'

“What’s wrong?” Song Yimo asked.

Miao Zhiruo shook her head, gazing out the window again. Whether or not Zhai Dage had any other intentions, it was clear he genuinely cared for Yimo. The rest would only reveal itself with time; for now, she’d keep her thoughts to herself and just stay vigilant.

Song Yimo came over and sat beside her on the window seat. “Miaomiao, do you want to stay here with me?”

“Of course I’d love to! Who wouldn’t want to live in a place this gorgeous? But I have to look after my grandma. I can’t just leave her alone to manage the house.”

“Of course not. But I was thinking,” Song Yimo said, folding her legs under her, “Your dad’s opening a new store, and he’ll be even busier from now on. Your mom’s got to handle the finances for two stores, so she might not even have time to cook. Your grandma’s in good health; why not let her go to Mang City to help out? If she can at least handle the cooking, it’ll make things easier on your mom. And that way, you can stay here and keep me company.”

Miao Zhiruo’s eyes lit up. “Do you think my dad would agree?”

“Of course he would! You’re staying with me, not just crashing at some stranger’s place. Do we really need to divide things between ‘yours’ and ‘mine’?”

“But still, this house technically belongs to Zhai Dage, so…”

Song Yimo flicked her forehead lightly. “This is my home. My home is your home—no more nonsense.”

Seeing her confidence, Miao Zhiruo couldn’t help feeling hopeful too. Living here, if only she could…

Looking around, she took it all in with relish.

“You get my dad on board, and I’ll move in right away.”

“No problem.”

But Song Yimo wasn’t one to ignore the situation entirely. When Miao Zhiruo left to help Grandma tidy up in the kitchen, Song Yimo pulled Zhai Dage into her room and told him her plan.
