Chapter 30: The Confession

HABOL ni Selene ang hininga nang biglang lumayo sa kaniya si Apollo. He reached for her face and caressed it gently.

“I just wonder. How about the crown prince?” He asked out of the blue.

“Huh?”

“What is the crown prince’s role in the story?”

“Well, he’s the second male lead.”

Napatango naman ito bago siya dahan-dahang hinila patayo. Ngunit malakas siyang napasinghap nang bigla na lang itong lumuhod sa harap niya.

“What the hell are you doing?”

Imbis na sumagot ay kinuha nito ang kaliwang kamay niya bago hinalikan ang engagement ring na nakalagay roon.

“How about we make the two of them the main characters instead? After all, the two of us are suited to become both villains.”

Napamaang naman si Selene nang dahil sa sinabi nito. “Have you gone mad?”

He looked up at her. “Selene, if this madness and becoming a villain is the only way for me to stay on your side, then I’m willing to become your accomplice in everything you do.”

Selene’s lips parted in shock. She didn’t expect to hear those words from the Duke.

“You will? Even if it means betraying the empire?” nanghahamon niyang tanong dito.

Apollo smiled. “I wouldn’t let any danger befall you, even if it meant burning the whole empire. Anyone who will try to harm you should kill me first.”

Kinagat niya ang ibabang labi. “But there’s no way that you’ll be killed, right?”

Ngumiti naman ito ng nakakaloko. “That’s right.”

“Does it mean you believe everything I said?” Sa totoo lang ay hindi niya akalain na ganito kadali lang pala tatanggapin ni Apollo ang katotohanan tungkol sa pagkatao niya.

He gently squeezes her hand. “I believe every word that you’ll say.”

Selene was lost in words. Apollo’s acceptance and assurance bring warmth to her cold heart. He’s the light who suddenly appeared and shined brightly in the darkness that she’s been dwelling in for a long time.

Mas lalo namang humigpit ang pagkakahawak nito sa kaniyang kamay habang magkahinang pa rin ang kanilang mga mata.

“So please marry me for real.”

Her heart skipped a beat. Sa pagkakataong ’yon ay tuluyan ng kumawala ang luha mula sa kaniyang mga mata.

“Yes! I will!” Sunod-sunod siyang napatango. Wala siyang panahon para magpakipot pa.

Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Apollo na tila hindi makapaniwala. Pero muntik na siyang mapatili nang bigla na lang siya nitong buhatin at ihagis sa ibabaw ng kama na para bang isa siyang magaan na bagay.

“What the—”

Nahigit niya ang hininga nang bigla itong pumaibabaw sa kaniya.

“How about we advance our first night?”

She tried to push him away to create a small distance between them but he didn’t even budge.

“W-wait! Isn’t it too f-fast?” She asked, stuttering. She never thought that Apollo could be aggressive.

Apollo smirked. “Selene, you don’t have any idea how long I’ve been holding myself back.” He leaned closer to her, and she could already feel his breath against her skin.
