It was 3 a.m. when Aman woke up in pain.
Virat and Rahul Bhai, who were already awake, immediately called for a doctor, with Virat rushing to Aman's side.
The commotion woke Rohit and Jassi as well.
Aman clung to Virat's hand, his grip tight.
Tears streamed down his face as he whimpered, "Bhai, it hurts so much!"
Virat cupped his face gently, his voice soft yet firm. "I know, Aman, I know. The doctor is coming, okay? Just hold on. Breathe for me, hmm?"
Aman squeezed his eyes shut, nodding weakly. "Don't leave me"
"We are here kiddo, with you", Virat assured him softly.
The doctor arrived and administered a painkiller injection to Aman.
Jassi sat beside him, holding his hand while the other three stepped outside to speak with the doctor.
Virat, feeling restless, was the first to ask, "Is it serious, doctor?"
The doctor shook his head reassuringly. "No, it's not. But the effects of the poison will take some more time to subside. Give it two more days with proper medication, and he should be fine."
Rahul Bhai and Rohit let out a sigh of relief, but Virat remained tense.
He rubbed his face in frustration, his chest tightening with the pain of seeing Aman suffer.
He hated feeling helpless.
Growing up, one thing he had always valued was being in control of situations.
He had worked day and night to achieve that, to ensure he could handle anything life threw at him.
But now, he felt helpless. Powerless. He couldn't even take away his brother's pain.
There Aman was, crying, whimpering in agony—and it made Virat's heart ache.
Rahul Bhai went to the doctor for more details and to understand the precautions they needed to take.
Meanwhile, Rohit's eyes fell on Virat, who was sitting on a chair, trying to compose himself—but clearly failing.
His fingers trembled slightly, his leg bouncing anxiously as he stared at the floor, lost in his thoughts.
Without a word, Rohit kneeled in front of him, gently taking Virat's hands in his own and placing them firmly on his knees, stopping the restless tapping.
Virat looked up, only to meet Rohit's calm yet concerned eyes.
"You need to breathe, Virat— slow and steady," Rohit said gently. "You heard the doctor. In two days, with proper medication, he's going to be absolutely fine.
"Aman just needs our care and support, and for that, you have to stay calm and trust that everything will be okay."
Virat followed Rohit's voice, his breathing unconsciously syncing with the steady reassurance in his tone.
He lifted a hand, gesturing for Rohit to sit beside him, but instead, Rohit pulled him up and, without a word, led him toward the spare room.
It was 4:30 in the morning, and Rohit knew Virat needed a moment away from the chaos.
Once inside, he made Virat sit on the bed before quickly checking his phone.
He messaged Rahul Sir, asking if everything was fine.
Rahul's reply came almost instantly, "I'm with Aman and Jassi. You stay with Virat. He needs you."
Rohit sighed, slipping his phone back into his pocket before turning to Virat, who sat hunched over, staring at his hands.
