Serah POV
"For a minute, forget the bond and your utility as a lycan, what do you want now? Do you want me or do you want to go back to that other man?"
My body froze, knowing exactly that it was the sole reason that my inner cage was at its most confused state.
...
It might be that I took a second too long to answer or I might have answered without my own consent.
Whatever it was, it was enough to set him off to who knew where.
His back was becoming tiny until he ran into his shift leaving me with the ghost of his presence.
My knees locked with the humid soil, my shoes ruined and our bond as well.
I tried to stop those incessant rivers taking place all over my face but I had no more control.
I felt warmth all over my shoulder knowing exactly that Jess was here to get me out of this distressing situation, but it wasn't reassuring enough, nor was she the person I wanted by my side.
I wasn't ungrateful but someone else's touch would have been greatly welcomed.
My body was floating over the green grass as I was carried away, to a place where the cold couldn't reach.
...
I couldn't tell when I fell asleep but I knew that I wasn't in my room, neither were any of my acquaintances.
However, the faint scent surrounding the back pack on the desk belonged to Olsen, if I were to guess, it was the room assigned to her.
I pulled the covers away and the air was not gentle on my skin.
But I wasn't sleeping any longer. The sun was setting and my stomach reclaimed some sugar.
Intuitively, I marched behind the light orange trail that glittered in the hallway. It belonged to royalty with a side spark of rebellion.
My lips curved over the image of that loud girl.
As if attracted to trouble, voices resonated from afar and without distinguishing any of them, my heels turned its one hundred and heighty degrees to flee the scene. ,
Unfortunately, the noise quieted down until the wood collided against a wall and loud steps started chasing after me.
"Stop right here."
I knew these words were thrown at me but until I was in any one's viewfinder so I will act as if I wasn't spotted.
To my utmost unfortune, my soundless existence was louder than I would have imagined. The girl didn't even spar me and caught me before I could disappear.
My hand was yanked against my will, and I knew I would have to face arguments I wasn't even part of.
The Rider's youngest pulled me towards her, ignoring my reluctance to join the whole tribe.
"Serah, at least be grateful, if it wasn't for me the little nap you took would have been with the dirt and the twigs."
I avoided her eyes because she was right, but I'll admit it later.
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart but I'm tired so..."
Slowly but surely I tried to loosen her grip but when my finger almost slipped away from her hand, she violently clenched her fist without even visualising how my hand was distorted.
The pain made me wince, and her eyes rounded in culpability.
"Jess, couldn't you be more careful!!"
Her face was guilt free in seconds.
