Serah POV

“Jay, I need to cheat on you so you have to be away for a few hours.”

The man's eyes widened but with a small smile drawing on his face and held me even closer.

“And who is that uncertain man, I would need to give him my blessings.”

The man took my face with his lips.
I was showered with affection and stuck close to his torso only remembering that this warmth was mine.

The thought was transmitted. At least enough for him to loosen his guard.

“Why do you want to go? I don't want you. I want you close to me or I might lose my mind.”

I pushed myself closer to him, only focusing on the same feeling we had.
The need to be close to each other.

I poured my needs into the bond and he soothes himself knowing that I wasn't going fully with an open heart.

“Jay, I want the best for the pack too, we should follow the plan. And don't forget that I am strong enough on my own.”

I kissed his lips, nibbling the edge.

The taste was sweet, addictive that I might have forgotten why I was here.
But to be fair, I didn't know anymore.

If our judgement is wrong I might not see him for a while or forever.

He sensed my sadness, betrayed by my own thoughts. But I will use it for good purposes.

“Jay I honestly just want to stay like this for a good while.”

My mate accepted my embrace, even gave freedoms to his hands, I wanted to stop before enjoying too much but we were interrupted.

I moved away from his laps, unconsciously wiping my lips.

“Come in.”

The door opened, revealing Kamil.

He did take caution before fully entering and closing the door behind.
Analysing the situation, he would have perhaps entered at the wrong time.

As he finished scanning the room and estimated the moment to be safe, he started to own his place.

“Alpha Jayson, I would like to make a change in the already made plan.”

Both Jay and I were confused.
On my side I needed everything to go smoothly.
Him though I did not understand.

“What is there that would need a change.”

Kamil looked straight at me as if could read the depth of my existence.

“I would like to be part of the group that will escort Serah.”

I let my breathing fall off in reassurance.
Olsen might have given the heads up to Kamil and was making the request swift as needed.

I turned towards Jay but he was fully concentrating on his head guard.

“Then who would be at your station?”

The man kept his lips together but he somehow had to respond.

“There would be Theo as he didn't yet have a fixed position.”

Jay's head went into a turmoil that he didn't know how to hide.
Worry crept on his mind even as hard as knowing that I wouldn't be by his side in a time of crisis.

He pinched the bridge of his nose.

“And when are you going?”

Kamil's eyes were in mine again.

“Now.”

Packing my bags, the farewells, I did none of those.
The only condition Jay made for me to be dispatched outside of the pack was secrecy.

If eventually, unwanted ears or spying rogues were to be informed of our plan, it would be a fail.

Not many knew of my departure but the Riders were indeed informed but to my surprise, Jess never came.

I tried to mindlink but access was completely off.

Theo came to say goodbye but he simply brushed it off as if she had an emergency or something but I knew that girl.

She wouldn't have let me go alone, moreover when there was my life at stake.

They were hiding something and Jay somehow felt the same but I couldn't ask him as I felt him as confused as I was.

“Serah. You don't need half of the stuff you put in your bag. I'd rather we get there fast and unscathed.”

Kamil stood tall in front of the porch. We decided to go from Kamil's house, the place where everything started.

As the house was near the borders, isolated enough for me to go without being seen from our packmates or indiscreet eyes.

The place was warm as if the atmosphere of the war didn’t reach this small piece of land.
Even the wind whispered in utmost gentleness.

My strands flowed with nature's will as my lashes stopped the dirt from entering my eyes.

The light brown was almost grey and the gold faded.
Whenever I think of my home, I was reminded of my human nature.

Lonely, depraved of power.
Still it held memory, love and a bond of blood that I had neglected with this new side of me born.

How ironic, I'll be going home but I wouldn't have any family to welcome me.

Everyone was in New Zealand, in a castle.

None of this made sense, but us sneaking out was even more senseless.

How did Kamil approve of this plan?

Anyway.

That man's blood had a certain power to soothe my anxiety.

Somehow, I found a family that I wasn't aware of.

Half of the men that were chosen to escort me came in all in camouflage gear, with them, there was Olsen with even more stuff than I.

I started smiling but then Kamil started the verbal fight.

Hearing them banter made me realise how good of an actor that man was.
She had to come with all her toys and tools.

That was the only reason she came.

“Kamil, would you tell us the plan?”

The head guard sighed and Olsen hurried to my side as we all formed an arc around Kamil.
Only one of them stayed behind his back.

“Here. Hunters in three groups, the first one are already out there, they shifted and are waiting for the departure. Then, us. The two of us would take the target and its scientist to their destination. Then all of you, half in wolf form, half in human form on your wolf partner would circle us.
Is it clear?”

All of them bowed, as they were already given the instructions.
Only us, those who couldn't shift were to be I formed of the plan.

The hunters went away to shift and be in position and the man behind Kamil came forward.

“Serah, this Elliott, he's considered as a talent in Red Crescent. He's only seventeen but there is something greater about him.”

My eyes shifted next to the kid that was taller than Kamil. Elliott, I thought it would be his physical advantages that would put him on a pedestal but his scent, he's different.

Kamil perceived the changes in my body languages and smiled.

“You're right. He's a half wolf. "
