Serah POV
I pushed the door open and what I saw poured ice into my veins.
The plan was a failure, even before it started.
Olsen looked at me, sorry that she couldn't do anything to prevent what was happening.
…
That masked stranger had her by the collar ready to take the daylight out of her veins.
Our eyes met and slowly, the tension on her neck loosened and her white skin let a light hue of pink regain her neck.
He let her go.
The loud sound of her falling to the ground was masked by the air that had been denied entry for who knew how long.
The man couldn't care less about Olsen and took steady steps towards me.
“Serah.”
I forgot to breathe for a while. The plan was to go to him but now that he decided to come to us I had nothing to say.
“How did you get here?”
The man turned his head towards the wine bottles that were discarded near the fireplace.
“I did enjoy a few of them while I waited for you.”
The underground passages. I should have known. Since we unsealed its entry it was a piece of cake to enter this place.
“How did you know that we'll be here?”
Though, there was a war preparing at our borders.
There wasn’t any intel from the inside for this as it was a last minute plan made by Olsen and only divulged to me.
The man smirked. But he wasn’t mocking us.
“Serah, wherever you went, I would find you. Shouldn’t it be the time, realisation is bestowed upon your ignorance?”
His words like riddle were incomprehensible and my patience was running low.
“Serah, he made something reacting to your blood. Maybe he sampled your blood sequences into a device that could permit him to localise you.”
The poor woman struggled to speak, her hand to soothe the aggression on her neck.
“Dear, why would you need to use science to explain the unexplainable. Human's fear, it is what led an entire species to its end.
If it doesn’t exist in the realms of chemistry and physics, it is branded as heretics.
Us werewolf are now made to burn on the stake.”
I was starting to lose my mind. There wasn’t one sentence that made sense but on the other hand.
Olsen seemed to be knowing exactly where it was going.
“Is that why you stole our research?”
Fury was in her eyes, as the red was ready to pop off.
“Dear, if I knew you would give them that golden treat I would have killed you long before you could even speak.”
This time I was the one interested.
“Them? Who are them?.”
If it wasn’t him that stole her research and created a global genocide, then who would it be?
The man looked at me with the saddest smile.
But he never let his lips curve any further.
“Serah. Serah Silverknight. Descended of Human. The fruit of a lycan mixing with human.
You bore the dormant genes that could only be awaken by your werewolf mate.
A gift or a poison from the Moon Goddess.
However, if she indeed decided to sacrifice a life it was for a cause greater than a life in a span of an immortal soul.
Them Serah, are the one you were given your powers.”
His words echoedfrlom one ear to a other but still, it didn’t answer my question.
Before I could get mad I heard violent growls.
The ground under us shook slightly making the dust, float above the floor.
I would have nicely watched the scene but ut seemed like we were getting attacked.
I looked at that mysterious man, trying to understand the situation.
“My bad but your men are trying to break in. My rogues do have a few tricks under their belt but they won’t survive a defense well organised.
Hence, Serah, it would be kind of you to follow me. Obediently.”
I looked outside but there was nothing to see.
Nature talked louder though, the birds ran away towards us, and the dirt around roared gently as if hiding a bigger issue.
“Mister, I would need you to stop them, I'm open to talk, even maybe find a middle but I don’t want my men injured.”
The man let out a satisfied sigh.
“With honor I would have fulfilled your wish but unfortunately, your men are trying to break in.”
I ran towards the window, it wasn’t only the ground but my entire property was shaking.
“Kamil, Kamil can you hear me?”
“Serah? What have you done? Why didn’t you answer?”
“I was busy?”
“Whatever, the hell you tried to do, Jay is coming. Right now.”
“What do you mean? I asked for nobody to get inside, why would he even leave the pack?”
“You went in, in an extremely suspicious way. And when I tried to check in, rogues attacked. What did you think I could do apart from contacting Jay. You stay in there without moving an inch. When I'm done with them you’ll have to explain this mess.”
The mind link closed.
He was blocking me out, but Jay was coming and it was the worst case scenario.
I looked over at Olsen. My knuckles whitened but none of this was her fault.
She brought us closer to a truth that was unreachable.
“Olsen, why would Kamil call for Jay?”
Her eyes widened. Fear evident in them.
“How did he find out?”
Her words cut deep in my reasoning. If I put it together the equation would never be something I would like.
“Olsen, tell me that it is not what I think.”
Her throat hurt but it wasn’t from the choking.
“Serah, I never told Kamil about the plan, I wouldn’t know how he found out.”
I closed my eyes and face palmed myself.
How could we make such a mistake while trying to do some dangerous stuff?
“I did. I told him.”
Kamil was the last person that should have found out if he wasn’t on our side. He might have figured it out. That we might not be alone.
