Jayson POV
The whole building was shaking, making all the innate objects of its rooms valsed on the floor, even Theo was one of them.
The unnatural scent of this chemical filled space was overpowered by the burnt; as for my guess, I would say it was on the opposite wing.
Theo was good at catching up rapidly.
"That's where the regulars are staying, we need to get there right now-"
I cut him off abruptly, I had new information that would justify my coming plan.
"You go there and make sure everyone's safe, I'm going to Serah, she's the real target."
The bedsheet was torn off my body, and the bed squeaked at my rapid escape. I looked through the first drawer to pick a better set of clothes. Coming to rescue your mate in a hospital gown wasn't sexy.
Tgheo was confused but he didn't argue and rushed off to the opposite wing. I was the alpha of Red Crescent but my worries lied with my mate, half of this place could burn but I needed her safe.
'Serah! Serah, where are you? We're under attack, answer me now.'
I was flying over the stairs and each of my steps were hurting my chest, my ribs were not fully healed and running wasn't helping.
'What do you mean, I'm where, you know, in the forest where we talked earlier.'
That girl had an interesting definition of talking, after our dear conversation, I was left to lie in the hospital. My humor had no place in this emergency case so I didn't share my viewpoint, my number one priority was to have her safe.
'Then run to the pack house, you're not safe alone.'
'Wouldn't I put the pack in danger if I stayed too close.'
'Don't start, come to me, please.'
The silence reigned between us but I could feel through the bond that she wasn't resisting the order.
All that mattered was her safety, my wet socks, my gruesome bandages nor my sweating body mattered in this instance.
Volker knew well enough to boost the adrenaline in my veins, giving me this false strength to reach my mate.
The three trunks were fast to disappear and reappear as my legs sped to get around the greenery.
The morning rays slowly deemed as I was getting deep into the forest and my heart started to feel restless, they were Serah's emotion.
Soothing the coming panic would have been hard but knowing her in danger was enough to get me back sober.
'What's happening?!'
My words echoed in my head and I knew she was blocking the contact. I crushed the grass harder promising that anyone that would potentially be a threat to my girl would end up under my shoes.
The sprint was long and interminable, somehow, her scent only became faint as I got closer.
As if my motivation was slowly disappearing from my memory, the bond was fading as if I was becoming mateless.
The air got stuck in my throat, my eyes burning to the worst of my fears.
My pulse steadily accelerates, ready to drop at any given moment.
I wiped away the sweat as my lips tasted like the ocean. My eyes almost lost its storm, relief came and my whole body was starting to relax.
Over there I saw a silhouette running at full speed ahead of me. Serah.
