Jayson POV

A desk that used to be dark brown was now at its lighter shade.
The piles were forming towers, a city, behind which I was hiding.

For more days than I could count, my packmates hadn't seen my face.
Talking to Serah was the last thing I should have done.
Because, I was left with nothing but this feeling of helplessness eating me up.

I felt the bond stir in my bones until I reached the void.
Nothing, only assomption...

What happened?
I wasn't getting any sleep until I knew.

I wasn't going to believe that she betrayed me but the strings couldn't lie.
So what was it?

The tip of the pen got deeper inside the sheet, pressing to the point of almost breaking it but only the letters went darker.

My lashes fell into my bags, making my world black as if it wasn't colorful enough.

This moment I had with myself was interrupted by my door flung open, with none of the respect it deserved.

"Jayson, get up here!"

Dad, he still thought he owned this place.
Nevertheless, I sat beside him and my eyes went to the stack he had in hand.

I swore, I wouldn't need any more paperwork.

"Here, Serah got us an alliance signed by the Europa Royal Family."

My eyes widened in shock.

My mood wasn't here but it was still a remarquable fit.
We were in neutral terms with those humans, as long as neither side poked the other the peace remained.
However, he was telling me that we were now legally allies.

I was impressed.

But there was an ick.

"Did they sign those papers while knowing that a possible war was to be soon welcomed."

He clicked his tongue, giving a reason to believe that they were in the dark but his next words captured me into confusion.

"Actually, they might have started the war, even so unwillingly, they play a huge part on the discord."

My eyes batted open and close until some sense made its way to my brain but I couldn't.

The man that lent me his features sighed and preceded to explain.

I fell back onto the couch letting the comprehension sip in.

"Are you telling me that they have illegal labs where our species are treated like rats?"

My eyebrows deeped forward and my knuckled turned white. The couch was having a hard time containing me as the pressure was ready to make the furniture explode in pieces.

Father had no idea and pursued not scared that I might destroy the office he still thought was his.

"They're not illegal as long as they state their research and some samples were here prohibited for use but they did not cooperate with those rules. They didn't mean any harm though the consequences were catastrophic. We can't afford to be in a war with their organisation and use it as an opportunity to make them indebted to us."

I heard him but if they were within the laws, we wouldn't be struggling against mere rogues.

"You, it's not just mere rogues."

The man was right, rogues couldn't be organized, they couldn't use the mindlink Between them, unless someone competent behind them was pulling the strings they couldn't attack a pack and expect a win.
