Chapter 21: Competiton Preparation

Previously on The Elemental Ninja of CHS...

The Dazzlings had asked to hang out with you on the weekend, and you agreed. You all walk around Canterlot and go through a few stores, including a karaoke cafe where you all sing, and the Dazzlings enjoy your singing.

You noticed a girl who looked like Twilight during your hangout, but she had some notable differences. You spoke with her and quickly figured out that she was the Twilight Sparkle of this world, and that she attended a different school called Crystal Prep Academy. You tell her you'd be willing to be her friend and exchange phone numbers.

After you and the Dazzlings return to your mansion, which you bought when you won the lottery, they confess their feelings to you, which you accept. Sunset walks in and sees the Dazzlings hug you, and she smiles. She also tells you that she is fine with more girls joining as long as their feelings for you are true.

(Opening Theme: Anacondrai Whip)

You, the Rainbooms, and the Dazzlings are walking through a corridor while carrying your instruments, apart from Pinkie, who is just skipping through the hall and carrying cymbals. You had all been called by Sunset Shimmer, who was absent from the group, about some sort of rehearsal. You all walk inside the science lab, where Sunset had told you to meet, only to see her wearing a lab coat in the room with various science equipment and technology set up.

(Y/N): Huh? What is all this?

Rainbow Dash: Yeah, I thought we were rehearsing.

Sunset Shimmer: Well, you are. Sort of. Back when I was Princess Celestia's student, I learned best by going out into the field and actually doing something. Studying ancient books is fine for some people, but I like to solve magical mysteries by rolling up my sleeves and getting my hooves... uh, hands dirty.

She puts on some gloves.

(Y/N): Going above and beyond to see how magic works in this world, huh, Sunset?

Sunset nods.

Sunset Shimmer: You could say that. I won't be testing you, though, as I can get an understanding of how your elemental powers work.

(Y/N): So everyone else will be tested.

Sunset Shimmer: Yeah, this also goes for Twilight since she has something important to attend to back in Equestria.

(Y/N): Right.

Twilight wasn't there with you all as she had gone back to Equestria for this week.

Applejack: I can relate to workin' hard outdoors, but what the hay does that have to do with us playin' music?

Sunset Shimmer: I'm trying to figure out how magic works here. Why you grow ears, tails, and wings when you pony up, and what your instruments have to do with it.

(Y/N): You know, I've always wondered how your magic works. I've had some magical encounters before, but none quite like yours.

Fluttershy: Um, are you sure we need to figure it out?

Sunset Shimmer: It'll be fun. Just start playing. You won't even know I'm here. (Y/N), I could use your help throughout all this. You know, get an extra set of hands.

(Y/N): Okay, sure.

Sunset's tests begin as Fluttershy is the first one to go; she begins to play her tambourine while Sunset stands by and watches her energy via a nearby monitor. The energy lines soon become shaped like a butterfly, which baffles Sunset as she looks back to notice that Fluttershy has begun to Pony-Up. Then a wave of pink butterflies materializes from all around her as the lights in the room black out. The swarm of butterflies continues their fluttering as one lands on Sunset's nose.
