Tessia wiped the tiredness out of her eyes as she walked into the chow hall. It was still early in the morning, and Tessia wished she was still in bed. She didn't get much time to rest yesterday since she was busy following Lilia around Dracthyria. However, she also appreciated yesterday's tour.
The first week she was here, Tessia always thought the dragon riders were simple people who were trained for nothing but combat and always wore black. But she was proven wrong yesterday. She learned that inside Dracthyria, not everyone was a rider, and there were different sects.
One of the sects was the caretakers. These individuals were tasked with caring for the dragons and monitoring their status.
Then, there were the scholars. These were the individuals tasked with protecting the history and information of Dracthyria and Dicathen. They were also tasked with analyzing battle information to help expose enemy weaknesses.
Then, last but not least, there was the rider sect. These individuals were the warriors of Dracthyria, whom Tessia was currently training to be. All the warriors in Dracthyria were bound to a dragon, as there were no infantry units.
Determining which sect someone belonged to was easy, as they were distinguished by their attire. The scholars always wore blue, the caretakers gray, and the riders black. Luckily, one of the places Lilia brought Tessia to yesterday was a store where Tessia could acquire black loungewear, which was far more comfortable than wearing black leather armor all day.
Tessia had also learned there were individuals in Dracthyria who weren't part of the sects. These individuals were the general populace, who were either too young to join a sect or handled the general needs of Dracthyria. These individuals were vital to Dracthryia, as they were the cooks, shopkeepers, and everyday workers. They were easy to spot as well since they would be wearing white.
Tessia wanted to ask Lilia more about the sects, but Lilia told her how she would learn more as her training progressed.
Lilia had also shown Tessia the library, which the scholars were in charge of, which was incredibly massive. Tessia had made a mental note to revisit the library at a later time to read some of the tomes. Lilia also showed Tessia a few places to eat in case she got tired of the usual chow hall food.
As the tour went on, Tessia had found that Lilia's attitude had changed. She almost treated Tessia nicer, which Tessia didn't know why.
Thinking of Lilia, Tessia curiously looked around to see if she could spot her eating. But, after a few glances here and there, she couldn't find her among the crowd of individuals. But, she did notice a few who were wearing different sect colors, which didn't stand out to her before, most likely because she wasn't aware of the various sects before yesterday.
Today was the first day that Tessia got to go to the chow hall by herself since Lilia told her yesterday that she would no longer be escorting her. While it was nice to feel a sense of freedom, it was also a little weird to be walking around without Lilia.
Hearing her stomach grumble, Tessia went to the food line and grabbed a tray of food before walking toward her usual table. As she approached the table, she noticed Eleanor, Theo, Claire, Elijah, and Lucas already sitting down and eating their food.
Eleanor looked up and smiled at Tessia, "Good morning."
As she took her seat beside Eleanor, Tessia returned Eleanor's smile. "Good morning. How are you?"
"I'm good! Excited for the day!"
Theo looked at Eleanor curiously, "So, you're really not going to tell us what we're doing today?"
