Tessia Eralith POV

Tilting my head to the right, I stared at my reflection through my vanity mirror. My makeup was done, and it looks good if I do say so myself. My hair, though, was deciding to be a little tricky today. I had already finished tying the main part of it back into a ponytail, but my sidebraid was being a pain in the ass.

'Why not just let it hang free?' Sylvie asked.

My eyes flicked to Sylvie through the mirror, seeing her lazily lying on her back on the bed, with her paws in the air. Her head was canted to the side at a weird angle, and her tongue was sticking out to the side.

A corner of my lips curled, and my brow raised, 'And why exactly are you lying like that?'

'Cause I'm comfortable.' Sylvie opened one eye and looked at me. 'Don't judge me.'

A chuckled and shrugged, 'Whatever you say.' I went back to doing my braid. 'And to answer your question, I don't want to look sloppy on my first day with the student council. It'll make a bad first impression.'

'You could just use the princess card.'

I huffed as I finally finished my braid—stupid hair. 'No. I'm not shallow, and I want to show that. I'm more than a title.'

Standing up from my vanity, I turned around, peering into my gorgeous room. It was a massive room with a king-sized bed with a white comforter and green sheets. The walls were an emerald green with paintings of trees. I had beautiful white furniture, consisting of two nightstands, a dresser, a vanity, and a desk. Not to mention that my closet was big enough to throw a party in. Not that I'm gloating or anything. But I do love this room. Grandma said she had it designed for me when she knew I would be attending. Guess it helps when the headmaster of Xyrus Academy is friends with your grandfather.

My eyes flicked to Sylvie as she rolled onto her feet and did a deep stretch.

'Are you all ready to go?'

I hummed as I looked down at myself.

'I think so?' My eyes widened, 'Wait! Nope!'

I quickly looked up, seeing that I had left my leather bracelet on the nightstand. I made my way over to it, 'I can't forget this.'

Sylvie watched me as I walked over to the bracelet and picked it up. 'Hmph. Why not? Let everyone know how powerful you are!'

I smiled and looked at Sylvie, 'I think people would be pretty baffled to see a sixteen-year-old girl who can control all four elements, including the higher elements, and is in the high silver stage.'

'Or, they could be infatuated with you,' Sylvie snickered.

I rolled my eyes, 'Yeah, alright.'

I placed the bracelet on my wrist, but felt no different. Not that I was meant to. While it didn't change anything about me physically, it just sealed some of my mana presence and prevented people from seeing my core status. If they did try to see my core status, they would see that I was in the dark orange stage.

I looked at Sylvie and smiled, extending my arm out to her, 'Ready?'

Sylvie nodded, jumped onto my arm, and ran up it until she lay down on my shoulder. 'Ready!'

I smiled, giving Sylvie a small head pat before leaving my room. I made my way down the hallway and to the first floor. Luckily for me, I didn't need to go far. The student council building, which I was currently in, not only held the student council room where we would meet, but it was also home to our dorm rooms. So, the first floor was for meetings, while the second and third floors were where we lived. The boys' dorms were on the third floor, and the girls were on the second. I hadn't met any of the other student council members yet, since they should be moving in today.

I made my way through the beautifully decorated white hallway and finally stopped in front of the brown wooden double doors that led into the student council room. I stood there, staring at the doors... and stared some more... and some more.

'I think you gotta push it open,' Sylvie remarked.

'I know... I'm just...' I sighed. 'I don't know.'

'Don't be nervous, Mama. You got this.'

I nodded and took a deep, stealing breath. 'I got this.'

I grabbed the doorknob, smiled, and pushed it open. "Hel—"

"Are you fucking kidding me?!"

My brows raised damn near my hairline, and I froze in the doorway. My eyes fell on four individuals standing in the enormous room. The light blue painted room was filled with a large brown circular table, with five chairs. Two brown leather couches were set up at the end of the room. To the left side of the room were several bookcases, containing more books than I could count. In front of the bookcases were two leather chairs, which I would presume were where people could sit and read. To the back left of the room was a small tiled area with a table and chairs, which I would guess was where the student council could eat. Then, on the right side of the room, were several file cabinets.

Standing to the left of the room were two figures, a boy and a girl, who looked about my age.

The girl has long, brown hair that goes mid-way to her back and is beautifully braided, and kitten-like hazel eyes. She, like me, was also adorned in a student council uniform.

The boy next to her, also wearing a student council uniform, has blonde hair and blue eyes.

The boy's eyes flicked to me, and his brows raised. He elbowed the girl who looked at him with furrowed brows. He jerked his chin in my direction, and the girl looked my way. When her eyes landed on me, she looked surprised.

But my focus was on the other two figures standing near the table. The first was Grandma Cynthia, who held a stern expression as she leaned against the table with her arms crossed.

The second was a tall boy with black hair who was also wearing a student council uniform. I couldn't see his face, though, since his back was to me.

"You will watch your tone when speaking with me, Clive," Cynthia said, her voice tight. "And no, I'm not."

"How is that fair?!" Cive yelled, sounding angry. "We literally voted on the student council last year. Why are you making changes?!"

Cynthia sighed, "Because. This is the first year that all three races can attend Xyrus Academy. So, there will be changes."

Clive scoffed, "This is ridiculous. Who even is this chick?"

"Chick?!" I spat.

Clive spun around, his sharp blue eyes landing on me. But within those eyes, I could see condensation. Clive raised his chin, looking down at me, "This her?"

Cynthia's eyes fell on me, and she smiled, "This is."

Clive scoffed, and he looked like he was going to say something. But then his eyes flicked behind me, and he looked surprised.

Cynthia's gaze also flicked behind me.

Clive's brows furrowed. "Did you hear about this?"

I grew confused, 'Who is he—'

"Hear about what?"

I practically jumped out of my skin at the voice behind me. When I spun around, my brows raised.

'Oh my... handsome.'
