Tessia breathed out, watching as her breath filled the cold morning air. She shifted on her feet, feeling the uneven sandy beach beneath her. She stared at the ocean, watching the crystal-clear blue water flow in the morning sun, sparkling as the sun crested the horizon.

'So beautiful... for now.'

Footsteps caught Tessia's attention, and she looked over her shoulder. Her lips curled as her gaze fell on a head of familiar blonde hair, which came up to stand beside her, looking out at the ocean.

Tessia smiled warmly at them. "Good morning, Alea."

Alea stretched her arm over her head. "Good morning, Princess." She lowered her arm and looked around, taking a deep breath. "Everyone is starting to wake up."

Tessia cast a sideways gaze. "How's their demeanor?"

"They're all on edge," Alea sighed. "Not that I can blame them."

Tessia nodded in agreement. "It's the calm before the storm."

Alea was silent for a moment before she said, "Have you seen anything?"

Tessia shook her head, staring out at the sparkling ocean. "No, nothing. None of the scouts have sent out a signal either."

Alea's brows furrowed, looking deep in thought for a moment before she crossed her arms. "Was our intel wrong? Are the Alacryans not supposed to arrive this morning?"

Tessia pursed her lips. "I heard the same briefing you did. This area was just a high possibility for them to arrive."

Alea shook her head. "I hate this waiting, the suspense. It's making me overthink everything."

Tessia looked at her and smiled, "Well, you don't need to worry too much since I'm here."

Alea rolled her eyes playfully, "Yes, yes, I get it, you're the legacy."

Tessia chuckled, "I still remember how shocked those Alacryans were when I demonstrated my power at the negotiations."

"Gosh, I wish I had seen it," Alea laughed. "I can only imagine how surprised they were." Her amusement vanished before she looked at Tessia. "Is it true that they accused us of attacking them first?"

Tessia nodded. "Yeah. They claimed the ship we sent out attacked them outright without provocation." She scoffed and shook her head. "What blatant lies. They were just making an excuse for their attack at the Xyrus Academy."

Alea's eyes fell. "I'm so glad you were there. It could've been so much worse."

Tessia smirked. "They didn't know what hit them. I ended their ambush in mere minutes."

Alea eyed Tessia curiously. "Does it bother you, knowing you killed the Alacryans?"

Tessia looked at Alea and blinked. "No, why would it? They attacked us first."

Alea looked down and nodded. "I guess that makes sense." She sighed heavily before she looked out toward the ocean. "I honestly don't know how I would react. I've never taken a life before."

Tessia smiled softly at Alea, who is one of the powerhouses of Dicathen. Alea was kindhearted, which was why Tessia felt close to her. She enjoyed Alea's company and positive outlook.

Tessia stepped closer to Alea and wrapped her arm around her shoulder. "Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be able to handle yourself when the time comes."

Alea looked at Tessia and smiled, "Thanks for the confidence."

Tessia chuckled, "Of course." She let go of Alea, giving her a smirk, "We'll kick those Alacryans' asses if they have the balls to show up."

"They'll show up somewhere."
