Lilia and Tessia were silent as they made their way through the stands. As Tessia followed Lilia, she would cast periodic glances at Arthur, who was speaking with the other adventurers, who stood around in a group of five, including Arthur. She watched as one of the adventurers said something to the group, and the others laughed. Even from this distance, she swore she could see the dimples in Arthur's smile.

Feeling her chest caving in, she breathed in sharply before looking forward.

Lilia cast a glance at Tessia over her shoulder, "You okay?"

"Fine."

Lilia raised a brow, "You su—"

"I said I'm fine," Tessia snapped.

Lilia blinked, "Sure, if you say so." She looked forward, making her way through the stands.

Eventually, they approached an open bleacher away from the other examiners and sat down beside each other. Tessia looked around, seeing the intricate marble pillars. Arthur standing with the other adventurers. The opulent red and gold banners hanging here and there. Arthur standing with the other adventurers. The adventurer's symbol of the sword and shield hanging over the double doors. And... Arthur.

Tessia grumbled as she lightly facepalmed her mask.

'Why in the fuck did he have to be here?'

"Okay, seriously," Lilia began, looking at Tessia curiously. "What's going on with you?"

Tessia shook her head, "It's nothing." She lowered her hand and sighed. "I'm just eager to get this done and leave this place. I want some free air."

Lilia stared at Tessia for a moment before she nodded, "Well, they're starting the examinations soon. After we're done, we'll be good to leave with our adventurer badges."

"The sooner the better," Tessia sighed.

Lilia hummed, her gaze locked on Tessia, before she looked forward. She took a deep breath and smiled, "It's nice to see Arthur again."

Tessia looked at Lilia out of the corner of her eye.

"I haven't seen him since we left the academy two years ago," Lilia continued. She tilted her head slightly, "I wonder when he became an adventurer." She looked at Tessia, "You should know, right? I mean, he lived with you in Elenoir."

Tessia's jaw clenched, "That he did." Her eyes fell, with memories of her and Arthur as kids flooding through her mind. She cleared her throat and looked forward, "He left the kingdom a little more than a year ago. He said he needed a..." Her eyes narrowed as she spat, "'A new start.'"

Lilia's brows rose, "Why?"

Tessia scoffed, "Fuck if I know." She stared at Arthur, seeing him standing there, tilting his head as he smiled slightly and spoke. He crossed his arms, and she noticed how his well-defined muscles flexed in the light. She looked away.

"He didn't tell you?" Lilia asked, sounding genuinely surprised. "I would've thought he would have. I mean, you two grew up together, right?"

"Yeah," Tessia said softly.

Lilia chuckled, "You know, there were rumors going around Xyrus about you two."

Tessia looked at Lilia, "Rumors? What rumors?"

Lilia shrugged, "That you two were dating." She grinned, "I mean, I kinda believed it too, with how you two were inseparable. When we were on the student council, and he was your vice president, he would always agree with you and basically finish your sentences."
