Desiree POV

I bravely came out of his office and returned to mine. I sighed when I sat on the chair. I hope this will work. I need to make things right and I want Damien to help me. Finally, after everything that happened I want to live my life to the fullest. I will be normal. All the ghosts from my life will leave me alone, I will leave them behind and that starts today! Tonight I will contact Damien, so he will tell me what he decided. For now, I need to work and get these contracts to Zachary. Somehow my interest in work has been drastically reduced. Luckily now we are not as preoccupied with work as we usually are. We mostly deal with Damien's company, and we have a big project with the biggest sports brand. That should be a bit of a challenge but nothing we can't handle. Negotiations are right now, and if we both agree to everything this will mean a lot to our company. I picked up the contracts and went to Zachary's office. I'm a bit nervous and scared to face him, but I want us to make peace. I don't want him to have a bad opinion of me. I like him and he was there for me, I want things to go back to normal. Damien spoiled everything but it doesn't matter now, I will fix it. I can do it! I knocked and entered into Zachary's office, and as soon as he saw me he rolled his eyes and turned to look away, now observing through the window. I sighed, knowing that this will not be easy.

-I just wanted to give you these contracts. I also must say that you are not being professional at all! Whether you hate me or not I'm still your deputy and you have to have some respect! - I angrily snorted and him this time, he looked at me straight in the eyes and I immediately wished I hadn't done it.

-You shouldn't be the one talking professionalism. If you are at least a bit professional you shouldn't have been fucking Damien. This is not a place for whoring Desiree, you should know that! - I frowned at him. He is the one telling me this! It's so hypocritical! Idiot! I formed a fist and got closer to his table.

-Shut up Zachary. Do you remember what you were doing right here? As you said, whoring is forbidden, especially with married women. - I frowned, remembering how I saw Catalina with him right at this table. You never know what people are capable of...

-Desiree, I am the boss here and I can do whatever I want! And you're just a worker and you have to respect the rules. - I am even more upset now, but I knew he is right. Yet, this is his company. Specifically, it's his father's but soon will become his. I have no one here and he can kick me out with just one word. Not that it would be wise, at least 40 per cent of the jobs here are by my credit. Even that is me being modest.

-You and I both know what is my worth here! So if you want me to respect rules, please respect them yourself and make a role model. - He rolled his eyes at then turned back to look out the window.

-So you are not denying that you are sleeping with Damien? - He asked seriously, and I swallowed. Will I turn out to be a hypocrite if I deny it? But if I say that I am sleeping with him then it will turn out that he has been right about everything. That I only take advantage of everyone and it's all an act. Oh my god, what am I getting into?

-It's what I'm trying to tell you Zachary but you do not want to listen to me. That day he was at my place just because he needed me to help him with something. And you know, better than anyone, what has he done to me. We're not together. - I told him as honestly as I could, keeping my fingers crossed under the table. I hate lying. This time, Zachary looked at me gently. I think he is debating whether to trust me or not. He just wanted to say something when there were a knock and Damien came inside. Zachary immediately frowned and looked away again. Ah... It seems that peace just slipped under my hands. I hate Damien sometimes. He's always at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

-Oh, it seems that we are all at the right place. Real happy family, right darling? - He looked at me and winked, putting his arm casually around my waist. Annoyed, I pushed his arm away but this didn't go unnoticed by Zachary, who now looks furious.
