Bakugo POV:
The night became ice cold in a matter of only a few minutes. We all had trouble regulation such extrem temperatures but Deku was shivering the most. I took a step closer and placed my arm around his neck trying to give him some of my leftover body warmth. IcyHot followed. He got on Dekus other side and walked close to him so that their body's touched. Then he wrapped his arms around his. I doubted it would help at all but it was better than just watching him freeze to death.
For the next three days we continued like this. In the day we took multiple rest always napping for only a few minutes then didn't stop waking for the entire night. This way we were able to use the rest of our strength most efficiently. Then on day three the hunger started getting unbearable. Our water ran out soon after that. The further we got the more difficult it was going to get. Soon doubts that we were walking the right way set in. What if the closest city had been in the other direction all along? Wat if there was nothing ahead this way?
Our strength slowly started running out. The weather was messing with Deku the most. After every break we had to help him get back on his feet because of how much he was shaking. Shoto started complaining about a headache. It got worse every hour in wich he didn't eat or drink. There were times he had to lean on me because of how dizzy he got. Meanwhile I was insanely sleep deprived. So much so that I got scared of falling asleep in case the others wouldn't be able to wake me up again. I couldn't risk costing us so much time. That's why when the others were sleeping I kept wach. At the end of the day it was still dangerous territory. Until now we had been lucky but who knew. We couldn't afford a surprise right now. Had to be prepared for everything.
On day five the first of us finally ran out.
"Sho, wake up we need to go... C'mon we need to get going.... Kacchan." I stoped packing our bag and turned around to them. "I'm starting to really get worried." Shoto was lying on the bedroll curled up into a ball, covering his face with his arms. "Hey Shoto, let me see your face." I carefully pulled away one of his arms. His eyes were still closed his forehead frowning. As I got a little closer I could see he was biting around on his lip. "Shoto. Hey." I tried waking him up. He wasn't moving. I grabbed his second arm and turned him onto his back. I lifted him up by his shoulder and leaned him against my chest. "C'mon open your eyes for us. I stroked over the wrinkles on his forehead. It relaxed for a moment. Deku grabbed one of his hands. "What should we do, Kacchan?" I looked at him. Even though I was just as worried I also was too tired to think of a solution at that moment. So I just continued trying to wake him up. If I had been able to I would have just carried him but I knew it was no use. Suddenly Shotos eyes opened very slightly. "Hey gorgeous, can you look at me." His pupils were dilated. I definitely had way to less knowledge to know how serious this made it but what I knew was that it didn't mean anything good.
I forced a smile. "You think you can get up?" He grunted and closed his eyes again. "No, no, no. You need to stay awake... Shoto. Shoto, please. If you don't get up we will be stuck here." I could feel how I got increasingly frustrated. I was tired, hungry, thirsty, cold, warm and really not in the right mood to deal with the other's needs. "Deku please." I looked at him. He immediately reacted. "Sho, open your eyes back up, please." He grabbed his shoulder and carefully shook him. "I-It hurts." Shoto whispered. "I'm sorry it does but you need to last just a little longer, ok?" Deku tried again. Shoto squirmed and buried his face in my chest. Deku looked at me overwhelmed with what to do. I kept quiet. I knew this situation was hard on all of us and I didn't want to make it worse with my bad temper. "Sho please" Deku tried making Shoto face him again. He stood firm and only buried himself even more.
"Alright Shoto. We don't have time. The more stubborn you are the longer it will take for us to get you food." With my last strength I got up and pulled his upper body along. When I tried standing him onto his feet his knees immediately gave in. "Shoto" my tone sharpened. "Kacchan! Please be careful! Don't force him if he isn't able to!" "He is able to!" "Kacchan!" Deku tried getting up but his body was shaking so badly that he fell right back onto his butt. "SHOTO!" He squirmed. His face was filled with suffering. Suddenly a lump formed in my throat. "Fuck." I held his upper body tightly against mine. "Please, try standing on your own for a moment so that I can help Deku. Please." He whimpered. His eyes started filling with tears. I carefully lifted him up a few centimetres so that he could place his feet properly onto the red sand. "It really hurts." He cried. "I know. I'm sorry." I gave him a kiss on the forehead. "I wish I could make it go away but I can't" I slowly loosened my grip. He clenched onto my shirt while trying to stand by himself. "You can lean against me again in just a second." I said before letting go of him completely. He staggered but managed to find halt.
I leaned forward and grabbed Dekus hip. He wrapped his arms around my neck and I pulled him onto his feet. "Go over to Shoto." He was obedient. I packed up the last bed roll and but the backpack back on. It seemed to get heavier each time I had to pick it back up.
