Todoroki POV:
I was in shock. How did all of this happen? It all went so fast. He couldn't be dead. There was no way. This just couldn't be! I shook him. "Izu?" I could barely get a word out. I was so focused on his corpse that I didn't even realise that everything around me was still frozen in time. "You have been in this place before, have you not?" That voice it couldn't be. "I have." Another answered. I lifted my head. I had been right. It was Benji and his older version. But how were they here? "Do you wanna go home, friend Shoto?" I nodded. "Would you like to safe your friend?" I nodded again. "What is more important to you?" Without hesitation I answered: "Izu. He's more important!" Benji smiled. "So you would be relived if I told you he was fine?" "What?" "I'm sorry we had to show you such a cruel scenario but otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get in contact with you. To get to the point: me and 19 had a talk. You know the three of you have been causing a lot of problems. 19 said it would be the best if you just left so we came to tell you what you need to do. 42 is in a bad place right now and we can't let him out of here. That's why when he created us we immediately knew what to do. Protect him. And right now in order for us to fulfil that goal he has to stay here. In this word. So make sure one of you get's out, ok? If you friend Shoto end up staying here and someone other than 42 leaves I will ensure that he won't touch you ever again. you'll be able to start a new life." "As long as they get out I don't care." Benji smiled. "But don't forget, only one can." 19 added. I knew that already. As much as it hurt, I was aware.
"Alright then," 19 continued. "For the portal to the outside world to open you have to restore one last thing. You need to bring this village back to it's former status. At first that must sound quite difficult. But it actually isn't. In order to fulfil that goal all you need is to fix the statue on the villages square. Legends say that the goddess depicted there will only come to its followers rescue as long as they have an intact statue. That thing makes it possible for the goddess to descend from the heavens and save this village. She is the only one who can get rid of the shadow giants and turn back the villagers. And she will be the one to open your way home." 19 finished. "What is necessary for it to be 'fixed'. It doesn't seem very broken. Do we just need to clean it?" I asked. "I'm not sure myself. While I am a part of 42 I'm not him. He created this world after my creation. I don't know as much as he should. Though because of his current state as of recent he hasn't been himself. All I can say is that you should continue to polish it until she descends." I got off my feet and bowed. "Thank you so much. I know this shouldn't be taken for granted." "Thank me once you've survived." 19 said with a harsh tone. "Now to get to the business aspect." Benji said. He seemed weirdly grown up today. "What is it that you wish once you have been successful?" "All I want is for those who stay behind to get a new chance at live. A safe one." I answered. "Well as long as you can survive until the end of the battle if that is your wish we will fulfil it."
After a few more seconds Benji sighed. "You do not have a lot of time friend Shoto. It is time to say good bye for real this time. You have to wake back up and put the plan to action." I nodded. "It was a pleasure meeting you, friend Benji. You two, 19." I shook 19's hand and gave Benji a goodbye hug. His eyes were filling with tears again. "Be safe out there, friend Shoto." "We will..."
I took a last look at Izukus corpse. Once I turned back those two had left. Suddenly the world around me started moving again. But instead of just continuing it went in a Timelapse. It was so fast I couldn't even make out what was happening. I started getting dizzy. Everything was blurred and spinning. For a moment I had to close my eyes. As I opened them again I could see daylight ahead of us. I was on Izu's back. Kats was limping along next to us. "Had a nice little nap, big guy?" he asked while giving me a smile. "Sho! You awake? How are you feeling? Are you sick? Does it hurt anywhere? Are you still sleepy? Wanna continue to rest? Did I hurt you when pulling you away? Did that thing get you after all?-" "Damn Deku, let my dude catch his breath will ja?" Izu looked to the ground in shame. I leaned in closer to him and nuzzled up to his neck. "Don't worry I'm fine. How couldn't I be while being carried by my boyfriend?" I could see his ears and cheeks getting red. Izu continued giving me a piggyback ride until we were fully out of the cave. After a short discussion he finally let me walk by myself again and on our way back to get our stuff I explained the others what had happened. After we had reached them again all of us decided it would probably be better if we turned back to the ship. Now that we knew what needed to be done we should repack our things and strategise in a safe place what we could do to fix up the statue without getting killed by those 'Shadow giants'.
The sun stood high and our last morning in this world had come to an end.
