Bakugo POV:
Even though we didn't have a lot of time till the sun would start setting and it would get difficult to see we took a moment to rest. The three of us sat on the boats bench cuddled up to each other. We didn't have a lot of stuff to clean on hand so our backpack was pretty empty. Our best bet was to look in nearby houses and hope we would find solid cleaning supplies. After a few minutes of sitting there Shoto got up and closes the zipper of our bag. Shortly after Deku also got up and put on his shoes. "Let's get this over with! Shall we?"

It was a weird feeling walking back to that village. Maybe it was because two of us had an idea of how all of this would come to an end. I looked over at Shoto. Hopefully some kind of miracle will happen. Before we knew it we had already passed the hill again and left the first few houses behind us. "How should we go about this?" Deku quietly asked as we got closer to the village square. "Let's first enter a few houses and see what we can find. Once we have everything we need we'll think about what to do next." I suggested. With that we entered the first house. We decided to pick one a little further off considering the most of those things hung around the statue. While looking through the kitchen cabinets I ready started thinking of a plan. Distracting those things was no option considering how fast they could get. Just ignoring them until they see us would be irresponsible as well. There was no way we could move the statue either. What else was there? We would need to be invisible for this to work. The biggest problem was that we knew nothing about them. We had no clue what their weaknesses were or whether a simple camouflage would already be able to fool them. A part of this problem was that the journal in Dekus possession described this village a lot different from what it looked like now. After waking up on that hill our predecessors were greeted by a lively little village with kids playing in the streets and a powerful statue decorating the centre of it. But time hadn't been generous with this place.

We didn't have to look very hard before finding useful supplies here and there. Some brushes and old sponges, some towels and buckets. It wasn't much and all of it was in a terrible condition but it was better than nothing. We put all the small stuff in the buckets and I grabbed a pair of scissors on our way out. As we started to get closer to the statue we decided on the only possibility left to get this task done. We would hide behind the closest building. Once it was clear two would continue to constantly have a look out while one of us started cleaning the statue. Once anything seemed remotely suspicious all of us would spread out and hide again until the coast was clear. When the person cleaning got tired or didn't have suitable supplies we would simply switch with one of the guys keeping watch. Hopefully we could be able to keep this up for long enough.
The three of us were crouching behind the wall of a nearby building. I was supposed to start with the cleaning. I planned on using the scissors to cut away some of the plants slowly taking over the highly detailed stone statue. Once the coast had been clear for a few minutes we had finally collected enough courage to put our plan to action. The knife from a few hours prior was still secure in my pant pocket. Just to make sure I tapped the outside of my pants before following the others towards the square.

Midoriya POV:
I could feel my heart pounding all the way in my fingertips. It was so loud I was scared it would overwrite other important sounds or worse lead the shadow giants towards us. Slowly but surely we reached the statue. Kacchan immediately climbed onto the pedestal. Both Sho and I got on opposite sides of the statue and starred into the village surrounding us. Luckily it was only afternoon and therefore still bright out. Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to see anything. Behind me I heard Kacchan chopping away at the plants. I was surprised those rusty scissors were able to do anything. After a few minutes I felt a tapping on my shoulder. I jumped. My entire body was tense as Kacchan nodded at me. I looked at the statue. In such a short time he had managed to get all of the greens off. As quietly as I was able to I sneaked over to the staue. I placed my bucked onto the pedestal and pulled myself up. With one of the brushes I started scrubbing away the moss. Luckily we had found a with rainwater filled bathtub earlier. This was a lot easier once I wetted the brush a little. My hands were shaking. The bottom of the statue was now freed from moss. I had to stop crouching and get the rest of it. My breath was unsteady. I took a quick look around. It was clear. For a short moment I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. With shaky knees I stood up. I took another look around. Still nothing. It is to quiet. No time for thoughts like these. I continued scrubbing. This would take ages. And how were we supposed to reach the top of the statue anyway? In order to distract me from how terrifying this was I started whining about how exhausted this made me in my head. While concentrated on the voices in my head I overlooked a pebble on the pedestal and misstepped. There was nothing in my reach to grab a hold off and I stumbled back. Along with me I pulled down the bucked to the ground. We landed on the dusty gravel with a loud clatter.
