Midoriya POV:
We heard a loud noice from outside the room we were in. "Kacchan? You ok?" No response. More noise followed by a weird phase of silence. Then glas breaking. Sho and I looked at each other. We quickly walked over to the door. He tried opening it. The door was locked. "What the... Was there a key outside?" He asked. "I don't know. We rushed in here so fast, I didn't pay attention." I responded. He tried opening it again, using more force this time. The door wouldn't budge. "Katsuki, what's going on? Are you okay?" No response. The two of us started to get increasingly more worried. Sho started throwing his body against the door. "Kacchan?!" I tried helping him with the door. Finally the lock broke and the door swung open. The corridor behind it was empty. The window at the end of it was broken. The floor was covered in dirty footprints and the little table with the vase had been thrown over. I looked over to the stairs. The wooden staircase railing had been ripped down. "Izu..." Shoto pointed towards the wall. Big claw like marks had torn the wallpaper. As he walked over to the window to take a look outside I rushed downstairs. "Kacchan?!" The bottom floor was empty. I ran over to the door and took a look outside. No sign of him. Sho came downstairs. "Let's leave the bags here and go look for him." I nodded.
Shoto stood next to me as we took another glance outside. Across the street was another one of those creatures. "You think one of those got him?" I asked. "I wouldn't know what else might have happened." Once that thing had left we sneaked outside. "We need to be careful." Shoto said. We walked around the house towards the window that had been broken. Some weird markings or maybe footprints covered the earthy ground. Maybe Kacchan had resisted and these would have come from that. Fact is, it seemed as though Kacchan had lost that fight because the big footsteps leading away from the churned up dirt were definitely not his. We followed them. They seemed to be leading back into the tropical forest. But not in the direction of our boat but the opposite one. I held onto Shotos had as we entered. The birds slowly began to get louder again the further we walked in. After continuing for a few more minutes we finally saw something ahead. It seemed like the opening to an underground cave of some sort. We looked at each other once more. Then took a deep breath and went up to it.
It was dark inside. Pitch black in fact. We went inside. The muddy ground turned into stone. The path lead pretty steeply downwards. Once we were deep enough inside for the light to not reach us anymore I could hear something dripping onto the stone floor. Every step we took echoed through the entire tunnel like room. Our eyes had started to adjust to the darkness but we still could barely see a thing. Luckily there was just one path up until now because even if there were some we wouldn't be able to see the footprints anymore. Suddenly I heard something move behind us. I frantically turned around. "What is it?" Sho asked. A small stone rolled down and stopped right before my feet. "It must've come loose because of the slope. Let's continue moving." Sho said. I took one last look into the direction where the stone had come from before following Shos lead again.
"There's a light up ahead." Shoto finally pointed out after a few more minutes of being in the dark. We sped up our pace. He was right. Up ahead the narrow path lead into a more open space. As we entered the room it felt as though we were passing through an invisible wall. We stopped and turned around. I held out my hand and placed it into the air. While it felt as though there was some sort of an energy field we could still pass through it. "Let's keep going." Sho suggested. The room we were in was relatively big. In the centre of it was a small table with a candle that lit up the entire room. I wasn't entirely sure how because it was really not all that big but I was glad we could finally see something again. The room was roundly shaped. Across from the entrance were three paths. Two of them were locked up with iron bars. The one in the middle had a similar gate but it was open. "Should we go that way?" I asked. "We don't have much of a different option do we?" Sho responded. "You think he's fine?" I asked. "It's Kats. Of course he's fine and he would get quite mad if he knew you were doubting him." He gave me a smile. I sighed and smiled back. "You're right." I knew Sho had been just as worried as me when I was able to get a glance at the expression he was making when looking away again. I reached out for his hand once more and held onto it tightly.
Right before we were about to entere the tunnel ahead. We suddenly heard a loud screech coming out of it. Wind swung into our faces lifting up our hair. After a quick glance at each other we started running towards it without any hesitation. Normally the human instinct would have led people to run in the opposite direction but knowing Kacchan was most likely with that thing there was nothing that could hold us anymore. Up ahead was another opening. A dim light came out of it lighting up parts of the tunnel. Another iron door. We ran against it and held onto the bars as we took a look through the gaps. The room behind it was double as high as the tunnel but as simple as the rest of the cave. Torches with a gap of about two meters apart from each other lit up the round shape. In the middle of the room stood creature about four meters tall with long fingers and claws attached to them. His back was arched and it had black scales. His head was covered in long thin spikes instead of hair. As it turned his head around 180° without moving a single muscle of the rest of his body red small eyes without lids stared at us. That thing had no nose but sharp teeth in his huge mouth. Because it went from one side of its face to the other the mouth seemed to be grinning at us.
