Todoroki POV:
We slowly sailed around the land next to us while keeping a close eye out for a proper opening and a safe spot to leave our boat at. But no matter how far we went it seemed as though the forest would just get thicker and thicker. "This is no use. Let's just stop at the next opportunity we get." Kats said frustratedly and we agreed. Once the roots from the trees seemed a little less we stopped and got close to land. One of the roots was sprouting out of the earth and into the water in a round shape wich made it ideal to knot our boat to. While Kats did that Izu and I put our shoes on. We packed up some things that could be of use and got on land. The floor was pretty muddy and at the feet of the trees grew moss and small plants. "Be cautious about this environment. I'm sure there's snakes and other animals around here." I pointed out. Izu and Kats held hands and walked ahead. I quickly caught up and we made our way into the forest.
It was quiet. Once in a while you could hear a bird chirping further away or the wind blowing some leaves but otherwise nothing. I started wondering where all the animals had gone. I took off my jacket. The climate was pretty damp and warm. We had only been here a few minutes and I was already sweating like crazy. "How do we know when we're there?" I asked Izu. "I don't know. I mean considering the other group woke up here and found their way out where we woke up I'm not even entirely sure if this is the correct way." "Great." Kats answered. We continued walking for a little bit. Izu had gotten a few steps ahead so I used that time well. I quickly grabbed Katsukis arm and pulled him a few steps behind. "What is it IcyHot?" "I had this idea." "What idea?" "You know how we found out we are supposed to fix parts of this world in order to open our way back? What if we just haven't fixed enough yet. Maybe the portal or whatever will stabilise the more we fix and would actually be able to bring all three of us." "And what do you expect we fix?" In that moment Izuku turned around to us. "Guys, I think there's a clearing ahead!" We quickly caught up again.
And he was right. Just a few steps further and we stood on the border between thick forest and not a single plant taller than up to our ankles. There was a small hill ahead. We continued walking in order to have a look at what was behind it. And I will never forget what I saw. My chest dropped into my pants as the image burned into my memory. What laid ahead of us wasn't just an abandoned town. It was completely destroyed and in between the broken buildings statues of people. But not normal statues. They were screaming and crying in pain and suffering. Some were broken some buried under rubble and ashes. Some seemed to be running away, others were lying on the floor as if dead and some looked as if they had accepted their fait. There was a lot of them. Enough to fill all the buildings. Those statues had been so detailed, so well made. I felt a lump in my throat. "Let's check it out." Izu whispered and started taking some steps down the hill. The closer we got the more did the floor resembled a path. A big sign marked the entry into the village. The wood was overgrown and mouldy. I could see the name wich had once stood there but it was illegible now. In general what ever had happened here, happened a long time ago. Most of the bricks were covered in vines and moss. We could see inside the buildings. Most of them looked like cute family homes. Flower pillows and wooden furniture.
As we continued walking I suddenly halted. A piece of one of the roofs had fallen down. The statue of a young boy was underneath it, screaming and crying. He was reaching out his arms for help. In front of him sat a little girl also crying. She was wearing a dress and held a stuffed bunny in her arms. Inside the house was a crying woman and a man holding her in his arms. In the corner of what used to be a kitchen sat a slightly older girl bend over two young children as if she wanted to protect them from the collapsing ceiling. Kats came a few steps back. "Shoto. You ok?" He looked at the young boy in front of the house. "Don't look at that." He said calmly while covering my eyes. "It's just some freaky statues." I turned my head towards him. "Some freaky statues... that's all."
"Kacchan! ... Shoto!" Katsuki quickly turned around. "Where's Deku?" He grabbed my hand and we quickly ran towards his call. He stood in the next alley. In front of him an even more disturbing stone statue than the ones we had seen so far. It was about four meters tall, had long fingers and sharp teeth in his mouth. Its body was wrapped in a black cloak and the hood covered his forehead. He had an attack stands and his big mouth was far opened as if he was making a war cry. "What the fuck is this place?" Katsuki asked while staring at the creature. "We should keep moving." Izuku suggested. But before we could agree a loud screech suddenly echoed through the village. Shivers went down my spine. "What was that?" I asked. "No clue." "A bird maybe?" Suddenly our surroundings were even quieter than before. Not a single bird dared making a sound. The wind didn't dare move a single leaf. Pure silence was disturbed by loud foot steps. I held my breath. "Hide." Kats whispered.
