Bakugo POV:
We quickly got off the square again. We couldn't risk one of those things spotting us after all. As we continued sneaking through the village an uneasy feeling overcame me. Was this really a dead end? Had all the travelling been in vain? I stoped walking. There was nothing here that seemed like a way back home. Not a single thing giving us just a hint on how to wake up from this fucked up nightmare. Someone took my hand. I looked up. IcyHot was smiling at me. "Don't worry, it'll work out. I promise sooner or later all of us will make it out of here." He said with a calm voice. The way he said it scared me. Something about this whole situation irritated me. Somehow his words seemed like a lie. Maybe we should just give it up and start over. Maybe they had been right. Both Deku and IcyHot had suggested we'd just stay. It would probable mean the least worry for all three of us. I looked over at Deku. He looked worried. What if I'd push them too hard and in the end one of us would end up dead? It had gotten too close a few too many times now. In that moment we heard another one of those terrifying screeches. All three of us flinched and as if we had activated our muscle memory we quickly ran towards the closest house. The door had been destroyed. Therefore it was easy to get inside. The curtains were closed. Meaning our only light source came from the tiny holes inside them and the broken door. "Go upstairs" I whispered. The staircase made a lot of noise as we ran up. Suddenly one of the boards broke in two as I stepped on it. Deku simultaneously grabbed my arm and pulled me back onto my feet. Once upstairs we ran into one of the bedrooms and closed the door behind us. Just like they had been in the bottom floors the curtains were closed.
All of us were breathing heavily, starring at the door in front of us, holding onto each other. "I think it didn't see us." IcyHot whispered after a few minutes had passed. "That screech felt way too close for comfort." Deku said while relaxing his muscles again. He sighed and sat down on the dusty bed. I took my backpack off and threw it on the floor next to me. "Maybe it's time we got out of this village." IcyHot said while joying Deku on the bed. For a moment we all silently caught our breaths. I took a look around. We were in a children's room. Old wooden toys were lying around on the floor and on the dresser. "I wish the diary would tell us more about what they did in order to open the way back home." Deku said. In the next moment he pulled the journal out of his backpack and took another look inside. "That thing is fucking useless." I grunted. "Now, now, you know it's helped us a lot already." IcyHot smiled while looking at me like a mom teaching their son an important life lesson. "I'm not a fucking kid..." I whispered while turning away from the other two. The bed creaked as someone got up. After hearing them walk towards me I could feel him wrapping his arms around my waist. "C'mon don't pout." I looked at my right shoulder where IcyHot had placed his head. He gave me a warm smile. I sighed. For a moment I closed my eyes and let his warm embrace calm me down.
"You two, I think I might have found something." IcyHot loosened his grip and we walked over to Deku. "So, in this journey the students started in this city and ended up in our forest, right?" "Yeah, and?" "Well the Ashvara described in here is a lot different than the one we are at now." "What? Does that mean we're at the wrong place?" "Not necessarily. I think this is just one of those places, that completely changed over time. What once was a lively and cute little village has now turned into a haunted place with statues depicting despair and terror." "What you're trying to say is that we need to bring this village back to its original, cutesy form first and then we'll be able to leave?" IcyHot theorised. "It would be worth a try." Deku responded. "Worth a try?!" I budded in "How are we even supposed to turn all these people back? They've been turned to literal stone!" The other two were out of smart ideas. "Well what should we do next then?" IcyHot asked. "Maybe instead of trying to turn everyone back it would already be enough if we got rid of the monsters, brought the hero statue back to its former glory and put the villagers to rest. For example we could bring all their statues to a nicer place." Deku suggested. "Oh yeah, because doing all that is so much less trouble then just turning everyone back." I mocked him. "Can you stop being in such a foul mood all the time. If you don't like our ideas, come up with one yourself! Seriously, it's exhausting!" Deku suddenly snapped at me. I took a shocked look over to IcyHot. With an obvious expression he symbolised that Deku had been right. "Sorry." I mumble and left the room.
I wasn't sure myself what ruined my mood so much. It couldn't just be the situation we were in considering it was nothing new compared to the last year or so. I could hear Deku and IcyHot talking from outside the room. I took another deep breath. I really needed to get ahold of myself. Suddenly I heard one of the floorboards on the floor underneath us creak. I froze. For a moment I just listened. Maybe I had imagined it? I heard another creak. I frantically took a look over to the stairs. The corridor upstairs was dark. Only the light from the broken door lit up the bottom part of the stairs. I was able to keep my breath calm. Had one of those things gotten into the house? I was too scared to move. What if it heard that we were in here. In that moment the only light source was nearly fully gone as a big shadow came closer to the stairs. I heard a purring similar sound before two red eyes peaked into the hallway.
