Flashback from the end of the last chapter:
Yumiko explained to Sophie what the punishment for Eugene and the others was, but also that Yumiko was trying to help them because Yumiko was a lawyer. After talking for a while, Sophie suddenly looked away because she noticed that one of the guards was walking straight towards Yumiko and Sophie, whereupon Yumiko looked too, neither of them having a good feeling about it.
Now:
Sophie looked skeptical but also confused when she saw that the guard, or rather soldier, was approaching Sophie rather than Yumiko, because it seemed as if the soldier wanted to say something to Sophie. "I must ask you to come with me," came the soldier's serious and cold tone as he looked at Sophie. "Why should I do that?" Sophie asked skeptically but also cautiously. "Because it's an order. One of your friends agreed to go to your place with Hornsby," the soldier replied in the same tone. Sophie looked at Yumiko to see if Sophie should really go. "Go with me, but keep an eye on her," Yumiko said, but she said it more in a whisper to Sophie and nodded. "Okay, fine, where is he?" Sophie asked as she looked coldly at the soldier. "He's already at the gate with Mr Hornsby and some guards," the soldier said seriously and coldly before he gestured for Sophie to follow him, which Sophie did after nodding to Yumiko. When the soldier and Sophie arrived at the gate, they saw that Eugene, Mr Hornsby and some guards were there.
"What the hell is this shit?" Sophie asked, angry but also cold, as she walked over to Eugene, and Eugene immediately noticed that Sophie wasn't at all happy about Eugene bringing a few people from the Commonwealth to Alexandria, because who knew if they were up to no harm? "So you see, I didn't say anything bad to anyone," Eugene said in a serious but slightly nervous tone when he saw how angry Sophie was about Eugene's decision. "Now they're just coming to Alexandria, our home, our safe haven. We're screwed if the situation escalates," Sophie said angrily. "Nothing will happen," Eugene replied, whereupon Sophie had had enough and made a fist before hitting him herself. Even though he was bigger, Sophie had punched him. "If anything happens to Mom because of your stupid decision... Or Michael, or Adrian, or Gabriel..." Sophie yelled angrily after punching Eugene, while two of the soldiers pointed their guns at Sophie, which she didn't care about. Mr. Hornsby signaled the guards to put down their weapons, which they did. "We're not going to shoot," Hornsby said with a smile, to which Sophie just looked at him coldly and angrily but said nothing. Shortly afterwards, the gate opened and Hornsby gestured to Eugene and Sophie to go ahead. Eugene looked nervously at Sophie, who sighed but then went ahead, with Eugene following, followed by Hornsby and the guards behind her. After a few minutes, Sophie stopped and turned to Hornsby and the guards. "Does anyone have a map? I mean, you dragged us here without knowing who we were," Sophie replied coldly. "Sure," Hornsby said as he gave Sophie a map, which she accepted and opened to get an overview of their location. Once Sophie knew where to go, Sophie gave the map back to Mr. Hornsby and set off, and the others went with her. As they walked to Alexandria Mr Hornsby tried to talk to Sophie but Sophie never answered because she didn't want to talk to him at all so he talked to Eugene who talked to Mr Hornsby but when Eugene told him some things about Alexandria Eugene got some sharp and cold looks from Sophie because she didn't like Eugene telling strangers about Alexandria. After a while, Sophie, Eugene, Mr. Hornsby, and the few guards almost reached Alexandria, but when they were close, they saw Daryl and Jeremy standing guard up by the gate. Since the two only recognized Mr. Hornsby and the soldiers, they immediately pointed their guns at the group, knowing something was wrong. After all, they didn't belong to Alexandria. "Come on, follow me," Sophie said as she looked at Eugene, wanting him to explain to Daryl and Jeremy that he and Sophie were there. But Sophie saw that Eugene was scared again, so Sophie sighed and moved a little closer before saying anything. "It's us, me and Eugene!" Sophie called as she looked up at Daryl and Jeremy. Sophie moved a little closer so that the two Sophies could also see what Jeremy and Daryl did. "Are they with you?" Daryl asked, pointing at Mr. Hornsby and the guards. Sophie turned around for a moment and then looked back up at Jeremy and Daryl. "They're okay, well, so far, but yes, they belong to us somehow. Well, at least they accompanied us," Sophie said coldly but seriously after nodding to confirm that Mr. Hornsby and the guards belonged to her and Eugene. Daryl then nodded and he and Jeremy put down their weapons and gestured to a few people to open the gate. "Who is it?" Rosita and Aaron both asked skeptically after they saw who Daryl was talking to. "It's Sophie and Eugene, but they've got someone in tow," Daryl said as he looked over at Rosita, who was standing downstairs with Aaron, Gabriel, Adrian and a few others. Rosita looked at Daryl in surprise but also relief. Shortly after, the gate opened and Sophie, Eugene, Mr. Hornsby and the guards came in before the gate closed again. As they went a little further in, Daryl immediately asked who the guys were and Eugene partially explained, although he was obviously nervous. "Sophie," came Rosita's relieved cry as she quickly approached Sophie. "Mom..." Sophie also approached Rosita, but Rosita noticed that something was wrong, as she detected a hint of sadness in Sophie's tone, but not the usual sad tone, rather one that indicated that something had happened. When Rosita reached Sophie, she immediately hugged Sophie, and Sophie immediately returned the hug. Gabriel smiled at the sight of Sophie and Rosita before slowly approaching them and hugging Rosita and Sophie. "Were you taking good care of Mom?" Sophie asked seriously, looking up at Gabriel during the hug, to which Rosita laughed slightly and Gabriel grinned. "Well, yes, and Michael too, and before you ask where he is, he's currently looking after RJ and Hershel Jr. with Lydia," Gabriel replied with a smile, to which Sophie nodded with relief. "I'm so glad you're okay," Rosita said, relieved but also worried, before she kissed Sophie on the head. Sophie hugged Rosita tighter for a moment before she let go of the hug, and then Gabriel and Rosita also broke their hug. When Sophie looked around and saw Adrian, she walked over to him, and the two hugged each other. "I'm sorry, I couldn't expla-" Sophie started to say, but she couldn't finish because Adrian had already pulled her into a kiss. Without thinking much about it, Sophie kissed her back. After a brief moment, they both pulled away and looked at each other with pure love and concern. Meanwhile, Daryl went somewhere else with Eugene, Mr. Hornsby, and the guards. Shortly after, Sophie, Gabriel, Rosita, Adrian, Aaron, and a few others followed.
