MISSY
July 28th 2005

Life moved fast.

Johnny was at training camp. I missed him so much, it almost seemed unhealthy to be so attached to another person.

I was out with Shan, Claire and Liz. I'd learned to forgive Shannon. I knew her intentions weren't to hurt me, so I gave her some grace.

We were at Biddies when I got a call from John.

I picked up. "Yeah?"

"Hey, Missy," He greeted. "Good news."

"What is it?" I bit my lip in anticipation. I immediately knew it was about Brady.

"We've got him. They reached a verdict today and decided we didn't need to go back."

"What?" I gasped. "How long?"

"Seven months for assault causing harm," He started. "Ten months for sexual assault."

I burst out in to happy tears. This was a huge victory. It wasn't as long as I would've liked, sure, but he was going to prison.

This was the start of my greater life.

"Oh my god!" I yelled. "We won."

I sped outside, noticing I was getting weird looks. The girls just let me go.

"Are you actually serious?" I laughed when I was outside.

"Yes, Melissa. We got him."

"Oh my god," I smiled so widely. "I don't even know what to say."

"Hey, we'll talk more when you get home, okay?" He said. "See you," He tried to be cool.

I giggled. "See ya, John."

After he hung up, I immediately texted Johnny.

Mel: We did it!!

Johnny: Really??

Johnny: I'm so happy for you, baby

Johnny: How much time?

Mel: Can't remember exactly

Mel: But longer than a year

Johnny: I am so proud

Mel: Me 2!!!

Johnny: I love you. X

Mel: Love you more :P

Johnny: Call tomorrow?

Mel: Definitely. Deuces Xx

Johnny: Haha bye. X

"Yeah, so it's seventeen months. A year and five months," I told my boyfriend on the phone.

"Shite," He laughed. "That's great news. This made my week, Mel."

"I'm glad. Hey, I miss you," I told him.

"I miss you, too," He softly said.

I smirked to myself. "Well, what do you miss about me?"

"Ah, right, that's where this is going," He chuckled. "Wait..."

He talked to someone in real life.

"Yeah, I'm on the phone. Who? My lass," He told the other person. I smiled. "Alright, be there in a bit."

"Your lass, huh?" I teased him.

He laughed and basically ignored my joke. "I miss your smile," Then he started answering my previous question. "Your hair. Your dimples when you smile in that one specific way, when the corners of your mouth kinda turn downwards."
