Y/n sat across from Taehyung, her hands resting in her lap, her shoulders tense despite the calmness of the space.
He sat with his elbows propped on the table, his gaze locked onto her with a softness that made her chest ache. Not the overwhelming kind of love that suffocates, but the kind that was steady. Persistent. Unshakable.
"You're always looking at me like that," Y/n said, her voice low, guarded.
Taehyung tilted his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "Like what?"
"Like you're sure." Her eyes flicked up to meet his. "Like you already know how this ends." He leaned forward slightly, the smile fading.
"Because I do. I love you, Y/n. I've never lied about that."
Her breath caught in her throat. She knew. She did. There was never doubt in Taehyung's love, only in everything that surrounded it. The weight of it. The past, the choices, the control he once held too tightly.
"You said I could see them," she said quietly, avoiding his eyes now. "The kids."
Taehyung nodded slowly. "Yes. You can come tonight, if you want. Or anytime you want to?" Y/n looked at him again, wary. "It's a trap."
"No, it's not," he said, without hesitation. "You think I'd use them to keep you?"
She didn't respond. She didn't need to. She knows that Taehyung is an amazing dad.
He leaned back in his chair, his voice softer now. "I wouldn't do anything... not in front of them. You know that."
"You say that," Y/n whispered, "but Taehyung, once I step into that house... you won't let me go easily. You never let me go easily."
He sighed, long and tired. "I'm not the same man you ran from, Y/n. I still love you the same... maybe more. But I'm not here to trap you."
He paused. "I just want you to see them. They ask about you."
Her eyes flickered up again, her voice cracking slightly.
"They know me?"
Taehyung's jaw clenched as he nodded. "They do.." Y/n's chest tightened. The image of tiny hands, warm voices, She missed them. Terribly. How could she miss someone who she has only seen from a far? But her fear still wrapped around her like a cloak.
Taehyung reached out across the table, not to touch her, but to offer. "I swear, if after tonight you walk away again... I won't stop you." He looked into her eyes.
"But at least... see them once." Y/n looked at his hand. Then at him.
She didn't trust the world they'd built. But in this moment, she did trust his love.
And maybe... just maybe... that was enough to say. "Okay. I'll come." ____
Y/n sat between her daughters, the blanket pulled up to their chests, small fingers curled around hers. Today was so perfect. She had never imagined her daughters would be so sweet. So loving. Like they had been waiting for her all along.
