The big church was full of decorations. The stained glass windows lit the room into beautiful colors. Taehyung stared at the flowers, so many flowers, mostly lilies and roses.

General Kim Taehyung stood under a row of deep red banners, one hand resting on the handle of his sword. His black and gold uniform was covered in medals, each one earned through hard battles. But even with all the honors and titles, he couldn't shake the feeling that he didn't belong here.

He was a soldier. A commoner son. Not a man meant to wed royalty.

Yet here he was, bound by duty, politics, and victory. The reward for turning tides in war... a princess. Who he never wanted

Old paintings of kings and queens looked down from the walls, he wondered why his future wife is not on the walls?

He never saw her, he never even heard about her. He doesn't know what she looks like. while nobles were whispering to each other.

Taehyung's jaw tightened as the great cathedral doors groaned open again. A hush fell. And then he saw Crown Prince Jungkook.

Prince Jungkook walked into the hall. His royal robe hung loosely on him, his hair was messy, and his eyes were red and empty.

The guards stepped forward to help, but he lifted a shaking hand to stop them. His steps were shaky, but he walked down the aisle alone and sat down beside the king, quiet but full of anger. He was drunk and the king was disappointed when he saw him like that.

His gaze snapped toward Taehyung.

And in that moment, Taehyung felt it.
Hatred.

Jungkook's stare was enough. He didn't need words to speak his mind. He thought Taehyung was unworthy. A sword, not a husband.

Taehyung knew the story. Everyone did. The king had no son, only daughters scattered like secrets among the chambers and corners of the palace. But only one bore his name, Princess Y/n.

The king was told the heir of his kingdom is about to be born but he was disappointed when Y/n was born, another girl.

She was hidden, she never attended any royal gathering. Was it to protect her or from embarrassment?

The king had chosen Jungkook, the orphaned raised at court, as his heir. He raised Jungkook like a son, and shaped him into a prince. And looks like he wants to get rid of Y/n once for all.

The doors opened again. Y/n.

She entered in a gown too heavy for her. The veil over her face shimmered with pearls, nearly reaching the floor. Her footsteps faltered with each step. Her gloved hands trembled.

Jungkook stood quickly, he was completely sober when he saw her. He walked toward her, gently offering his arm.

"You look pretty, noona," he whispered, his voice warm. "So beautiful."
