(M/N) wiped the sweat off his brow with the back of his wrist. He sighed out softly and smiled at the progress. It's just been him and Suna these past couple of weeks, and it's been nice.
He took a step back, tilting his head to the side and nodding it right after. He licked the inside of his cheek and grabbed his wet rag to wipe some paint off his fingers and cheek. He and Suna had been working on a home ever since they left the Mafia. It was peaceful.
(M/N) smiled when he felt arms wrap over his waist, one hand went over Suna's hands and the other using the paint touched rag to lightly hit Suna's cheek. The taller grumbled, gagging at the sound that emitted from (M/N)'s rag and (M/N) barked out a laugh.
"You're such a fucking loser, (M/N)." Suna sighed defeated, like it was a chore to be around the man.
(M/N) licked his lips and felt the twitch of a smirk surface as he leaned into Suna. Suna was wiping his cheek into (M/N)'s already dirty shirt, so what's the harm in adding paint to it?
"A loser you asked to marry." (M/N) pointed out, "Which, I haven't been asked properly yet." He added, tilting his head and narrowing his eyes at Suna.
Suna licked the inside of his cheek and gave a coy grin. Trying to appear all innocent and happy like when in reality, he just looked guilty. As if he forgot about promising (M/N) a better proposal.
"Speaking of," Suna said quietly, "Come outside to the back. I gotta surprise for you."
(M/N)'s eyes brightened, maybe it was finally time for Suna to man up and ask him. At least he hopes it is. He wanted something special, but just them. Like when they were lying in bed talking about their future, but this time more flashy and beautiful. A big gesture, but not too big.
He was quick to get out Suna's hold, bursting through their back door and ignoring Suna's laugh. They had just replaced it a few days before, so it seemed they might have to replace it again.
Their backyard was huge, no fence and it was like his childhood home. A forest as their backyard and front yard. A nice little cabin home secluded from the world, but close enough to be attached to it. It was perfect.
Though, not perfect enough since there was no sign of a proposal.
"Come on, it's further down this way." Suna said, intertwining their fingers and tugging (M/N) behind him.
Their footsteps were light and almost breezy, but there was a slight crunch beneath their shoes due to the fallen leaves. A pretty red and yellow swirled together to make a path of dirt in the middle, almost as if they were deliberately placed there to make and area to walk in between.
No gust of wind, so it was highly possible Suna did that.
The trees were a mix of full and leaves falling off of it due to fall. (M/N) always liked the fall. It was nice and cool, but warm enough to not cover up and bundle into a million coats. Not that the cold would've affected him anyway, his body temperature stays the same no matter the season and no matter where he is.
They walked far enough to see their home as just an outline of a building, but not so far they got lost. Though (M/N) could've found their way easily, or they could just follow along the leaf path.
(M/N)'s heart skipped a beat and he smiled, the crinkle in his eyes shined from the sun. Also from the joy he was feeling.
A small picnic was set up, it was right near a creek. The sound of rushing water filled their ears and rocks glistened from it. The picnic had a variety of (M/N)'s favorite finger foods and desserts. Suna couldn't cook for the life of him, but over the course of those few weeks, he learned secretly.
