Tobias POV:
"You are worthless! You will never be good enough to be called my son!" Marcus pulls out a belt he uses to hold his blades on the wall and walks towards me.
"You can't even sharpen a blade correctly!"
He pulls back his arm and smacks down on my back. I wake up with a jolt, sweaty and shaky. I look around and see it's still dark outside. I look into Marcus's bedroom and see he's still sleep. I grab my shoes and decide to go for a walk.
I walk down the field and see boxes and tables. They're setting up for the annual Kingdom Festival next week. The royal family comes to the town and throws a celebration in honor of their people.
As I approach the end of the field, I see the castle. It's big and has so many towers. Everything is dark except one room. It's at the tallest tower and it glows all night.
And in that window, sits the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. A girl, sitting in front of the window, brushing her hair. She's probably a princess if she's in there. But just to look at her makes my heart pound and smile streak across my face. But a princess will never marry a poor blacksmith like me. And my smile disappears.
