Recap: Lucas was right, but not just about my family. My entire life is a mess. I'm taking showers in the freakin locker rooms and I'm sleeping in anything that's warm. I don't know where my next meal will come from, that is if I even get a meal. I started to feel like the room was closing in on me, my palms started to sweat, I could hear my heart beating rapidly. My breaths became shorter and quicker.
"Maya, are you okay?!"
I heard, but it felt like their voice was miles away.
"Maya!"
Everything went black.

And that my friends was the day Maya Hart died. The doctors couldn't save her in time, her heart just stopped. The funeral was small, many classmates showed up. Even Riley cried while they buried her. All Lucas did was laugh because he knew this was all a joke and this isn't really what happened in the story and the author is just tricking you....

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA YOU ALL FELL FOR THAT!!!! I GOT Y'ALL GOOD;) okay here's what REALLY happened.

Lucas
I stared at her lifeless body in front of me. The only sound in the room was the buzzing of the light above us. They should fix that, it's really distracting. I intertwined my hand in hers, a small smile twitched in Maya's lips. She was here.
"I'm gonna protect you, okay? I won't let anything hurt you anymore."
I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Why are you still here?"
I shrugged.
"I was about to ask you the same thing."
Riley bit her lip a little.
"Um m-my dad wanted to stay here, since...ya know she doesn't really have a family..."
Riley's voice trailed off in one breath. It looked like she was about to cry.
"Hey save those tears for when you'll need them. Maya wouldn't want you to cry over her."
Riley laughed a little.
"You wouldn't believe how many times I've cried over her."
She mumbled, but I could still understand her. It's something I've had to do over the years.
I sighed, this was all my fault.
"Hey where's Farkle?"
Riley rolled her eyes.
"He said he had to get home or else his mom would kill him."
"Must be nice."
I mumbled.
Maya twitched a little on her bed. At least I didn't kill her.
Riley shot out of her chair.
"Oh my god..... Farkle's mom is going to kill him! That's where he's been getting all those injuries! I feel so stupid! It was obvious!"
"Okay Riley calm down you don't know that for sure."
She shook her head.
"No, no, no I need to go now! Stay here with Maya."
Riley bolted out of the room, Maya's machine was still beeping away. I decided to get some food, since Maya's clearly not waking up soon. As I walked out the door I heard a faint voice.
"Lucas?"

Riley
I burst into Farkle's apartment, not even caring I wasn't being polite. His mom was holding a baseball bat ready to strike.
"No! Stop!"
Both looked up horrified.
"Hiiii Riley! So nice of you to come and watch me play some baseball!"
I looked at Farkle.
"She's drunk isn't she?"
He slightly nodded.
"Every day after her shift she goes out for drinks. It's okay Riley, she doesn't know what she's doing."
I shook my head, why can't he see what she's doing?!
"No Farkle! We need to go to the police and get her arrested for child abuse!"
Farkle's eyes filled with hate.
"Screw the police, they never do anything good. They took my father away from me! He was an innocent man and they just locked him up! I'm not losing my mom too!"
Mrs.Minkus lurched towards us both, she grabbed Farkle by the neck and pushed him against the wall.
"Oh sweetheart I love you sooo much. But yo-your father was a horrible man. And if you ever speak of him again I'll hit a home run with that bat, got it?"
She growled.
Farkle's face was turning red from the lack of oxygen.
"Get away!!"
I screamed and jumped on Mrs.Minkus's back. She was caught off guard and started stumbling. I kicked the back of her knee. She fell to the side and hit her head on the table. I could see blood. Crap.
"Riley what did you do?!"
I got off of her.
"I-I'm sorry it's just she was hu-hurting you and-"
"No! She was drunk and confused! If you're not gonna help me then just get out! Leave! We were never friends! We just have a project together! Stop trying to get into my private life! While your life might be perfect, mine is far from it. But I can handle it by myself!"
He roughly grabbed my arm and pushed me out the door. I landed on the floor with a thud.
"Screw you Riley."
Farkle mumbled before slamming the door. I wanted to cry, but the anger inside me was taking over. I ran home, I ran all 6 blocks. The wind cut through my skin like scissors. I didn't even feel it though. I burst through the door and walked up to my mom.
"Farkle's mom has been abusing him and we need to call the police right now because he won't do it himself."
