Chapter 19 Daddy Dearest

A/N: Hello everyone! Ugh so the Girl Meets Texas promo has killed me and now I don't think October could come any slower?! Oh and yes I know the title of this chapter is stupid.

Maya
I looked at myself in the mirror, my hair was almost 3 inches longer and my blue eyes popped out from my otherwise pale body. A few months ago, I don't think I would've recognized myself. So much has changed and this time I'm happy about that.
"Maya, it's time."
I gave a small smile at my reflection.
"I know."
Riley and I walked into the living room, Lucas was waiting for me on the couch.
"Lucas. What're you doing here?"
He sighed.
"I know we aren't the best of friends. For all I know, you could hate me. I don't really care, but I know that I have to come with you to see your dad."
"Lucas but-"
He grabbed my hands and started pulling me out the door.
"Nope come on no arguments. Let's go."
I gave up the fight and let him pull me to my dads office. I have no idea how he knew where to go.

The smell of stale coffee and cleaning products hit me as I walked though the office doors. Lucas was right behind me.
"I haven't been in here forever."
I quietly whispered.
I swear I saw Lucas's head nod along with me.
"Let's go Ranger Rick, my dads office is on the 16th floor."
We rode the elevator in silence, occasionally stopping to let people in and out.

I stood outside the door marked "Kermit Hart."
The letters seemed to jump at me.
"I-I can't do this."
I looked up at Lucas with tears in my eyes.
"What if he tries to hurt me again? What if he laughs at me?"
Lucas grabbed my shoulders, I felt safe in his arms.
"That won't happen because we're stronger than that. Come on let's go in."
I blinked a few times and slowly turned the doorknob.
The door opened swiftly.
I quietly walked in, my feet sinking into the white plush rug.
"Da- Mr.Hart?"
I caught myself.
Lucas started walking ahead of me, I followed along.
We turned the corner and there he was. 230 pounds of compete bull. Of course there was a woman sitting across from his desk, she looked like his type. Blonder hair, blue eyes, just like my mom.
"Maya?!"
I barely gave a smile, more like an eye roll.
"Lucas."
My eyes shot over to the woman, how did she know Lucas?
"M-Mom."
My mouth dropped open.
"Wait. What?! This is your mom?!"
He looked away.
"Something I can do for you Maya?"
I half-shrugged.
"Look Dad I don't wanna be here anymore than you want to see me. Let's just make this quick. Can you represent my friend in a court case?"
Dad took off his glasses and stood up.
"I suppose that would be alright. Um I got some help a little while after you left, to help me with my anger issues. I'm really much better now."
Lucas's "mom" gave me a pleading nod.
"Trial starts at 8am tomorrow, don't be late."
I took Lucas's arm and left.

When we finally got out of that place, I was on the verge of losing it.
"So you wanna go get some food or-"
"Lucas are you crazy?! Aren't you kinda freaked out that our parents work together?! And that your mom is alone with my dad in his office?!"
Lucas dropped down to the sidewalk, I did the same.
"Maya, I knew they worked together."
"And you didn't tell me because...?!"
He gave a tired sigh.
"The relationship between my mom and I isn't something I like to talk about. Okay?"
I shook my head.
"No its not okay. I don't care you didn't tell me, but the relationship with your parent is something that needs to be treasured and taken cared of."
Lucas gave a laugh as he stood up and brushed himself off.
"Like you should be talking about relationships with parents."
He walked off leaving me all alone.
I groaned.
Why can't Lucas just open up to me?

A/N: OKAY THIS CHAPTER WAS REALLY BAD I KNOW. It's basically just a filler before they go to court and we find out something about Lucas that's very important. AND THEN THE BIGGEST SHOCKER EVER HAPPENS. So next chapter will be pretty long (in my opinion) and I don't have any homework this weekend (thank god) so the new chapter might possibly be up tonight?
