Farkle
I woke up and looked around, for once I didn't feel my face for bruises or scratches. For once I felt safe.
"Hey man wanna skip school with me today?"
Lucas asked throwing on a sweatshirt.
Yesterday I would've said no in fear of my mom finding out and beating me, but now I can do what I want.
"Yeah, but won't your mom get mad?"
Lucas laughed a little while checking his phone.
"Like that'll happen. Come on let's go to the movies."
I got out of bed and quickly changed. I haven't had real friends for a while, things are finally coming together.

Maya
I took one last look in the mirror and headed out to the kitchen. Riley was sitting alone at the table, texting on her phone.
"Hi Riley."
Her eyes didn't leave the screen.
"My mom left for work, dad already went to school and Isaac said you took too long to get ready so we're walking."
I opened the refrigerator and took out some yogurt.
"Oh sorry. And about last night-"
Riley slammed down her phone.
"The damage is done Maya, go ahead and spread rumors about me I really don't care."
"Wanna know what I think about that idea?"
I scooped up yogurt in my spoon and flung it at her face. It hit her right on the cheek.
"Maya!!"
Riley screamed.
I laughed.
"Geez calm down its just yogurt, lick it off."
Riley jumped from the table and ran to the sink, she scrubbed her face till it was red.
"I can't believe you did that!"
I rolled my eyes, drama queen much?
"Whatever walk to school alone, yogurt face."
I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door, Riley still had her face in the sink.

I walked into Mr.Matthews classroom, but stopped short. Where the heck are Lucas and Farkle?! I groaned and took my seat next to Lana, who greeted me with a death glare.
"Why haven't you texted me?"
I let out an exhausted sigh as I unzipped my backpack.
"Because you're the reason Riley's mad at me."
"Ugh Maya I can't stand you like this! I miss the old Maya! Look I'm sorry, it was wrong of me to butt into Riley's business like that. Now after school we'll go to her house where you can pack your things and come live with me."
I set out my notebook and a couple pencils, looks like we're taking notes today.
"Can't do that. The Matthews are my foster family at the moment."
Lana gave up and turned back to her phone. The bell rang, Riley rushed in. She had scratches on her cheek where the yogurt was. I guess she did take up my offer to eat it. Class went by without a problem, it wasn't a project work day thank god because I couldn't stand sitting there in silence for an hour with Riley.

I opened my locker and started to grab some books, I don't really feel like going to lunch. I closed my locker and came face to face with Lana.
"God Lana don't scare me like that!"
She shrugged.
"Sorry, but I thought you might be interested in something."
Lana took a folded piece of notebook paper out of her pocket and handed it to me. I unfolded it, there was a poem written on it:

The way you laugh
The pain I see
The love you give
To anyone but me
I know you love her
And that's okay
Because I'll prove you wrong
Someday.

I looked up at Lana shocked.
"What is this?"
She gave a devilish grin.
"I took it out from under Riley's mattress. Clearly she likes a boy who doesn't feel the same way, Maya this could ruin her!"
I was completely speechless. I just my head and ran off, I need to find Riley.
