Chapter 10 Left In The Dust

A/N: IM SO SORRY! I was supposed to update Saturday and then when I didn't I was going to Sunday. But school has got to me. I'm actually supposed to be typing an essay right now, but I really wanted to write a chapter for my favorite readers:) So enjoy this chapter!

Maya
My eyelids slowly opened and were immediately blinded by a bright light. I shot out of my bed, except it wasn't my bed.
"Maya!"
Lucas rushed towards me and grabbed my hand.
"Thank god you're okay! I'm so sorry this happened, never again. I promise."
I wanted to laugh a little, what was he talking about? The last thing I remember is sitting in Mr.Matthews class.
"H-how long have we've been here?"
Could I have been out of it for a day? What if I've been in a coma for months?! That means I've wasted even more of my life sleeping! A look of fear crossed over Lucas's face.
"Maya calm down! Worrying is what got you here! Don't worry, you were only out of it for a little over a day.
"Have you been here this entire time?"
He looked down sheepishly.
"Better than going home."
He mumbled.
I was about to question him when the doctor walked in.
"Ah Maya! Glad to see you're awake. Since you're awake now, I trust in your family to watch you for the next few days. They're waiting out on the lobby when you're ready."
I looked at Lucas and he seemed as confused as me.
"Family?"
Lucas whispered. I shrugged and started to grab the little bit of stuff I had. I descended down the hallway, Lucas watching my every move. When did he become so protective? I stopped short in the lobby, this is getting really annoying.
"Look Riley your family is really nice to pay my hospital bill, but I can take care of myself."
Riley just shook her head.
"Oh Maya if only it were that easy. You're coming with us whether you like it or not."
Us?
Isaac, Riley's older brother came around the corner. Last time I saw him he was defending his little sister from a bully. And now he's forcing me to move into his house. Funny.
"You both suck."
I groaned as we headed out the doors.

Lucas
She started to walk out the doors, I wanted to just run up and hug her till she couldn't breathe. Isaac put his arm around Maya's shoulder, she fit right in with them. Even though Maya and I are more alike than they'll ever know. I grabbed my jacket and headed "home."

Farkle
"So you're telling me that your mother, Jennifer Minkus. Has been abusing you for years now every night when she comes home drunk?"
I took a deep breath, I could just back out. Say I made it all up and go home and get slapped again. But no I've made up my mind, my mom doesn't deserve to have contact with the world anymore. She gets to live in a cold, dark cell, miserable. Just like she made me.
"Yes."
