A/N: This entire chapter deleted😑 I had to write it all over again😑 So this chapter could've been up like 3 hours ago. And then it took me about 30 minutes to realize I never published this. Oh goodness I'm so out of it. THIS CHAPTER IS INSPIRED BY ME BECAUSE I HAD HOMECOMING LAST NIGHT BUT NONE OF THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

Maya
I walked into school, the halls seemed to be louder than ever. As I walked by I noticed the guys had taken shelter along the stairs, their eyes followed each girl as she walked down.
A crowd had formed by the vending machines, in the center of it was a girl crying her eyes out. I walked closer and tapped a girl on the outer part of the circle.
"Why is she crying?"
The girl sighed and shook her head.
"Poor girl, the guy she wanted to ask her to homecoming asked someone else. She's heartbroken."
My mouth went dry.
I looked back at the guys on the steps, they were now whispering.
Oh no.
My least favorite time of the year has come.
Homecoming.

I walked into Matthews class, Riley was waiting for me at my desk.
"Maya, I need your help."
I rolled my eyes and sat down.
"Why don't you go ask Charlie?"
"Because it's about him! I think he's gonna ask me to the dance."
I shrugged.
"So?"
"Well I think Farkle's gonna ask too and I don't wanna say no to either of them."
"Guess what Riley? You will say no to one of them and it's gonna crush them and they'll probably remember it for the rest of their life. And then they'll tell their kids about it and then they're grandkids will hear it as their bedtime story every night an-"
Riley cut me off.
"Maya what are you taking about?! Are you okay?"
I looked around and just now noticed everyone was staring at me.
"Um, ye-yeah I'm fine. I'm just not really into homecoming."
The bell rang and we got into a project groups, but it wasn't the kind of distraction I wanted.
"Are you going to homecoming?"
Farkle asked.
I shook my head.
"No there's not really any guys I want to go with."
"Oh come on Maya there must be someone!"
Riley giggled at me.

"Come on just go ask him!"
I peeked out from the lockers.
"But what if he says no?!"
"He won't now go!"
She gave me a little shove, I stood planted to the ground.

"Maya?"
Riley waved her hand in front of my face.
"Maya? Are you okay?"
I shook my head, snapping back to reality.
"Hm? Oh yeah I'm fine."
Just fine.

Lunch was as hectic as ever today. All the girls seemed to be lingering around tables that had the guy they wanted at them. Lana stood in the center of it all, at least 10 boys surrounded her.
Everyone knows I'm off-limits. No exceptions.
I sat down at an empty table, happy to get away from the frantic girls and nervous boys.
"I'm sitting here. It's the last place Farkle or Charlie would look for me."
Riley explained taking a seat.
I looked to my right, a guy stood up with flowers in his hands. Another couple was about to be formed.

I walked up to him, confident in my stride.
He noticed me and smiled.
"Hey Maya."
"Hi."
All his friends had fell silent around him.
"What's up?"
"Um I-I wanted to ask you something."
He leaned forward ready to listen, it was now or never.

"Hey! Are you even listening to me?!"
I turned my head back to Riley.
Behind her the guy with the flowers held his arms open while a random girl jumped into them. All her friends squealed in delight, hoping for the same fate.
"No."
Riley pushed her chicken aside.
"Are you still mad about the whole leaving Farkle in court thing? I said I was sorry about a million times!"
I shook my head slowly.
"We should go work on the project in study hall."
Riley gave me a confused look.
"Okay. Anyway as I was saying, Isaac was about to ask the girl when.."
I stopped listening, I was too busy watching Lana as she pointed to her first victim. The guy hugged her tightly, she winked at the one behind her. 2 dates by Monday? I think that's a new record!
That lucky girl.
*next day*
I sat at my desk tapping my pen to the music in my head, day two of everyone going crazy.
"Oh Lucas we never asked, are you going to homecoming?"
I looked at Riley, why would she ask that?
"Maybe that day is uh never a good day for me."

He leaned forward ready to listen, it was now or never.
"Will um will you go to homecoming with me?"
All his friends stifled a laugh, my cheeks burned.
"You're asking me?"
I slightly nodded.
He let out a loud laugh, some people had turned their attention to us.
"I guess I could. It'll be my one good act of kindness."
"Wait what?"
I asked confused.
"Come on Maya! Obviously you wanted a date, so you wouldn't look like a loser next to Lana, and clearly no guy was gonna ask you so you asked a guy. I mean how much more desperate can you get?"
By now many more kids had become invested the drama fest. Tears stung my eyes, I held them back.
I looked around me, my vision was blurred, he was right I would never be as good as Lana.
"Well are we going or what?"
I looked up at him with anger in my eyes.
"Don't ever talk to me again Lucas Friar. You're such a jerk!"
I ran out, with laughter following behind me.

"Maya you look sick."
Farkle pointed out.
I looked at Lucas, the tears started to come back.
"I-I need to get some air."
As I walked out I took one last look at him.
Never again.
