Chapter 23 Ship Has Sailed.

A/N: Gooodddd Night readers! (Idk it's night for me!) So anyway I have like a TON of ideas for this book, but I just need to figure out how to put them together. Sorry my updates are getting slower and shorter. I HAVE 3-ISH (More like 3 1/2) MAJOR PLOT TWISTS COMING. PLEASE BE PATIENT. Oh and if anyone understand the chapters title YOU ARE AMAZING. Maya
I sat on the steps leading up to the school, my head against my knees.
I looked at my position, it reminded me of last years homecoming.

"I'm sure he'll show up soon. Come on just come dance with me."
Lana said as she tried to pull me into the school.
I looked back at the parking lot, it's been 30 minutes.
"No. H-he's coming."
Lana shook her head.
"Last year he humiliated you when you asked him, I'm surprised he even agreed to go with you this year."
I sighed, she was right he wasn't coming.
"Okay let's go."

I waited 2 more hours until I finally accepted I had been stood up. I sat on these steps, watching the couples go in hand in hand. I know I'll never have that.

"Hey. You okay?"
I looked up at Lucas, blinking back the tears.
"Um not really. As you can guess, I really hate homecoming."
He took a seat next to me and took a shaky breath.
"I hate it too."
"I-is that why you stood me up both times?"
Lucas looked down.
"No."
He said almost with regret in his voice.
"I know I was a douche bag to you Maya. I'm sorry."
I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Well the least you could do is give me an explanation. The rest of the year you would just give me death glares."
"Maya, a lot of stuff happened that night. I didn't want to stand you up, but I didn't have a choice. I'm sorry."
"Sorry isn't enough. Do you know how it feels to just get crushed and your entire body just falls apart? That's how I feel when I'm with you. God Lucas I don't even know what we are. One minute you hate me and another minute it's like this, all sappy and loving. Make up your mind because for once I'm not waiting around for you."
I looked at Lucas for an answer, instead he leaned in and started kissing me.
His soft lips melted into mine, I've seen a lot of romance movies, but I never imagined kissing someone could feel so good.
He pulled away first.
"Maybe we can try homecoming one more time? You know what they say, third times a charm!"

Riley
Lucas and Maya ran out of the classroom, somehow my dad didn't notice. I looked at Farkle, we seem to get stuck in this position often.
"So....."
"Riley this doesn't have to be awkward. Don't worry I'm not asking you to homecoming anymore."
My eyes shot up at him, his eyes were sincere, but his frown said something different.
"What do you mean anymore?"
"I know you like Charlie. Maya told me about walking in on you two. It's okay I'm over you."
Part of me should be relieved, but I still felt a sadness. Why doesn't Farkle like me anymore?
"Oh well um that's good because Charlie's probably gonna ask me anyway."
He nodded.
The bell rang and I headed out of school, I don't care I'm skipping the rest of the day.
I opened the doors and stopped short.
Lucas.
Maya.
Kissing.
Each other!
I felt tears fill my eyes. After all Maya's done why is she getting a happily ever after?
Clearly my Prince Charming is a little late.

ATTENTION RUCAS SHIPPERS: DO NOT STOP READING BECAUSE I NEVER GUARANTEED THAT LUCAYA IS END GAME. BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN RUCAS IS EITHER. You'll just have to wait and ssseeee!!
YELLO EVERYONE! I just noticed that I always make Lucas and Maya have their heart-felt moments on steps or benches😂😂 Anyway sorry this chapter took forever to put up, but I'm just so busy. Ugh school is killing me and I don't even have time to free write anymore! Half of this chapter was written 2 minutes ago! UGH! So I hope y'all enjoyed the chapter!
