Chapter 42 Sweet Dreams

Well this is it. Last Chapter. Wow. Don't cry! The sequel is just around the corner!

Maya
I took the glass of champagne and chugged it down. What? I deserve it after the night I've had.
Let me catch you up to speed:
After my mother crashed the wedding, Mrs.Friar ran out of the church and is apparently on a flight to Las Vegas as we speak. My mom wouldn't stop screaming about revenge or something and she was carried out by Mr.Matthews and Shawn. My dad has conveniently fled the premises and the guests cleared out about 30 minutes later. I'm currently sitting in the reception room and helping myself to all the uneaten food, I mean why waste a good night?
"I figured you'd be here."
Lucas said leaning against the door frame. He was still in his ripped up tux.
"Did you find your mom yet?"
He shook his head and laughed.
"No, but for now I get to move in with the Matthews."
"I guess we'll be like siblings after all."
He shrugged and sat next to me.
"You know it's a shame this party went to waste, I-I was actually looking forward to a dance with my almost sister."
I let out a laugh and shoved another bite of cake in my mouth.
"Friar you're out of your mind."
Lucas got up and stuck his hand out.
"Come on. This could be the only time I can dance with the one, Maya Hart."
I rolled my eyes, but looked at his hand.
"You know we never had that homecoming dance."
I sighed and took his hand.
"You asked for it."
He led me to the dance floor and clicked the computer to play a song.
"May I have this dance m'lady?"
I giggled.
"Shut up Friar."
The music started playing and we started swaying back and forth.

I snickered a little at the music.
"I didn't know you were an Ed Sheeran fan?"
Lucas shrugged and smiled at me.
"He calms me."
"Awww!"
Riley exclaimed from the doorway as she snapped a picture with her camera.
"Now that's a memory!"
Lucas and I awkwardly put our arms down.
"Thanks for the dance m'lady."
I rolled my eyes and ran over to Riley to see the picture.

Lucas
"So which one are you going for?"
Farkle asked standing next to me. I shrugged still staring at Riley and Maya. They're both so beautifully different and I don't wanna ruin a relationship with either of them.
"I'm not looking for a girlfriend. I'm looking for a friend and that's what I've found."

We all sat on the dance floor, barefoot and eating the left over cake.
"So no one has anymore secrets?"
Riley asked stuffing another bite of cake in her mouth. Maya slowly raised her hand.
"I've been glad since the beginning that we were partnered up."
"We're presenting tomorrow."
Farkle stated happily.
"But we already did!"
Maya whined like a little girl.
"There's more I would like to say."
Riley said smiling, everyone nodded in agreement. Riley stood up and brushed her hands on her dress.
"I'm going up to the roof to take pictures. Anyone coming?"
"We'll be there in a minute."
Maya said still eating her cake. Riley nodded and headed up the stairs. We all sat in silence, currently happy with our state of well being.
"This is a happy sight."
Charlie said slowly walking in.
"It was until you came."
Maya snapped.
"Oh are you still not over your mommy's appearance. Ruining relationships must run in the family."
"Back off."
I said standing up, Farkle did the same. Charlie put his hands up and backed away.
"Alright, alright. No need to get feisty. But if you all think this is over, it's not. We're just getting started."
Maya laughed and pointed to the door.
"That's the exit. It's where people like you go because everyone wants you to leave."
Charlie shook his head and left. That was really weird.
"Come on let's go get Riley and head home."

Maya
I ran up the stairs to the roof, ahead of Lucas and Farkle.
"Rillleeyyy! Come on we wanna go home!"
I yelled with my voice echoing off the walls. I reached the top and looked around. The roof was deserted.
"She's not up here!"
I yelled down to the boys.
"She probably is already home, come on!"
Lucas yelled back up. I sighed and looked around again, something about this doesn't seem right.

I stood in front of the class barely being able to control my tears. Lucas and Farkle stood on either side of me holding a poster board.
"And that is why friendship is important."
I finished and everyone politely clapped. I sat down in my seat and looked at the empty one next to me.
She should be here.
"Don't worry Maya. Riley's fine, just fine."
Charlie said suddenly standing over me. He let out a menacing laugh.
"No! Bring her back! Bring her back!"
My screams sounded so distant and far away, I couldn't control them.
"No! No!"
I shot up from bed, a cold sweat dropped down my face.
"Riley?"
I asked the quiet, dark room, but there was no reply. She's been gone for 2 days now and she's not coming back. I heard the bay window slide open and I jumped out of bed.
"Riley! You're here! I'm so-"
I stopped.
"Oh it's you."
I said disgusted at the sight of my thought to be dead mother.
"Maya. Please you need to listen to me. I can help you get Riley back."
"How?"
I asked eyeing her suspiciously.
"Just trust me."
I laughed and jumped back into bed.
"I learned not to trust anyone a long time ago. And like you're one to talk about trust, Miss Risen-From-The-Grave."
"So you don't want my help."
I smiled happily.
"Exactly! Now there's the door, I hope you have a terrible rest of your life!"
She sighed and left. I turned back over and let another tear fall.
I'll find you Riley, I promise.
