"Come on Maya! The dress can't look that bad!"
Lucas yelled outside the dressing room. I stared at myself in the mirror and wanted to scream. I can't believe I got roped into being a bridesmaid at this wedding.
"If you don't come out I'm coming in!"
Lucas yelled again. I definitely regret bringing him along.
"Okay fine."
I walked out, the dress made a swoosh sound with every step I took. The ruffles on the sleeves kept brushing against my face and it was zipped way too tight in the back causing me to barely breathe. Oh the joys of being a girl.
I stood in front of Lucas with my hands on my hips waiting for a response. His lip quivered into a smile.
"Don't laugh."
I snapped. Lucas's mouth cracked into a smile.
"I-I'm not laughing."
"Friar."
"What?!"
I threw my hands up and sighed.
"This entire thing is a nightmare."
Lucas grabbed my hand.
"Hey."
He put his finger under my chin like yesterday at school.
"I'm your brother and I want you to be happy."
I swatted his hand away.
"Stop it! I'm not your sister and you're not my brother. Your house is not my new home. The Matthews are my home. A-and your mom will never be my mom."
Lucas nodded.
"So this is why you're so cranky."
I rolled my eyes and looked to my right. A girl and her mother were looking through dresses, laughing and talking. I'll never have that. I blinked back the tears in my eyes.
"Lucas I wanna leave."
He sighed and shrugged.
"Fine. I'll have Topanga pick up your dress."
"Okay."
I mumbled before turning back to the dressing room.

I flopped onto my bed and sighed. I don't know why I'm so sad, but I am.
"Maya?"
Riley asked closing the door.
"What."
"I've de-decided to get some help."
I sat back up.
"For what?"
"I don't eat as well as I should and I only did that because of Charlie. Even when we were younger he would make fun of my body, but now I don't care."
I got up and pulled her into a tight hug. I think I needed it more than she did.
"I'm proud of you."
I whispered. She didn't reply, but I know she heard.

"Who's excited?!"
Lucas yelled happily walking into the room. I looked up from my seat, why is he so happy?
"Well you're the only one."
Don't think I'm being a bitch or anything, it's just Riley, Farkle and Lucas in here with me. I can complain as much as I want to.
"Aw come on Maya! Cheer up!"
Lucas said stuffing three more pieces of shrimp into his mouth.
"Lucas those are for the party."
Riley snapped grabbing the cocktail from him.
"Why is everyone in such a bad mood?"
Farkle whined.
"Because after today I'm gonna be stuck living my psycho dad, a mother who neglected her son and Ranger Rick."
Lucas glared at me.
"Don't you dare talk about my mom like that."
"Why? You wouldn't know what she's like considering she neglected you!"
Lucas lunged at me and pulled me to the floor. I rolled on top of him and punched his arm while he pulled my hair.
"I hate you!"
I screamed hitting him harder.
"Cut it out!"
Farkle yelled pulling me off of Lucas. I stood up, both of us panting. The hem of my dress was ripped up the side and my hair was a mess. Lucas's sleeve was ripped off and he had a bruise on his cheek.
"Ahem."
We all turned around and saw the Matthews standing in the doorway. It was completely silent, Riley looked terrified at what would happen next. I looked at Lucas and he cracked a smile. I started to laugh, but one of those pure genuine laughs. Lucas joined in and pretty soon all six of us were laying on the floor with tears rolling down our cheeks. My stomach hurt so bad I don't think I'll be able to sit for a week. But it felt so good.
"Ready to walk me down the aisle?"
I asked Lucas linking arms with him.
"Definitely."
The music played and we began walking together. It sounded more like a death march in my opinion. The looks we got from the crowd made me laugh even harder considering we still looked like a mess.
"Is that what the kids are wearing these days?"
A grandma whispered as we walked by. When we reached the front of the sanctuary I stopped for a moment and looked at my dad. He had tears in his eyes, but the bride hasn't even came out yet. Lucas and I separated and I stood by Riley. My dad leaned over to whisper in my ear, it sent chills down my spine.
"You've never looked more beautiful."
I gave a small smile and heard the cry of a baby. I looked in the very back of the sanctuary and saw my older sister Kelsey and her baby Taylor. She gave a little waved and I nodded at her.
Finally the music stopped and the minister started talking. Blah blah blah, just get on with it!
"Do you, Kermit Hart take Katherine Friar as you lawfully wedded wife?"
He smiled.
"I do."
"Do you, Katherine Friar take Kermit Hart to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do."
The minister looked out into the crowd.
"If anyone doesn't want these two together, speak now or forever hold your peace."
There was an awkward silence. Suddenly the door of the church burst open and everyone turned their heads. A tall, blonde and beautiful woman stood in the doorway with her hands on her hips. She started furiously walking down the aisle.
"Are you kidding me?! You let it get this far?!"
She seemed to be yelling at my dad. I think this is the first time I've seen my dad have a pure look of terror on his face.
"K-Katy."
He whispered. I whipped my head looking at him. Did I just hear that right?!
"I'm tired of this crap Kermit. Where is my daughter? I want out of this."
The whole crowd remained shushed, waiting to see what will happen next. The woman looked right at me. I turned pale and my stomach did a backflip.
"Mom?"
My voice cracked as tears filled my eyes.
"Hi Maya."
"Mom!"
I ran into her arms and hugged her tightly. We separated and I looked at Mrs.Friar. She was giving my dad a death glare.
"So you're still married?!"
He shook his head vigorously.
"No.no. Katherine it's not like that."
"I should've known I was just one of your little affairs. Everyone can go home, there is no wedding!"
She threw her bouquet on the floor and rushed out of the church. Everyone looked around not knowing what to do.
Farkle walked to the front of the church and took a deep breath.
"Well. This is turning out to be quite the cliffhanger."

Heyo! I didn't know how to end this chapter and still leave stuff for the next chapter. So. I hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you next chapter!
