Riley
Maya and I walked in sync down the school hallway. Everyone in the way moved aside knowing the famous duet was back together and not to mess with us. I forgot how much I missed being noticed by everyone. We finally stopped when we reached our victim. Maya tapped on his shoulder and he turned around. She gave a smile so sweet it could give you a cavity.
"Hello Charlie."
"Oh h-hi Maya." He looked to his left.
"And Riley."
Maya grabbed his shirt and pushed him against the locker.
"We know what you've been up to. Stay away from us or else."
Charlie chuckled and looked at me.
"Is that so? Riley? You want me to stay away from you? What about all we've been through?"
I'm not melting under his sweet words anymore. He's taken too much away from me to get another chance.
"Stay away from us."
I linked Maya's arm in mine and we walked into history. My dad gave a warm smile as we walked by. Charlie followed us in, but kept his head down and sat in the back.
I felt someone sit next to me and turned to my right.
"Hi Lucas." I smiled sweetly at him.
"Hey Riley."
"I can't date you."
We said in unison. I gave a sigh of relief.
"I was hoping you would feel the same way."
Lucas nodded.
"I thought I liked Maya, but clearly now that's not possible. Then you just bring this light into my world. I don't want that light to go out because we have some dumb relationship drama."
I nodded in agreement and looked at behind me at Farkle, who was scribbling in his notebook. I turned back to Lucas.
"I'm gonna admit it. I had a crush on you the first day I saw you walk out of the school gym. I thought a nerd like me could never have a chance with you, but thank you for giving me a chance." I looked at Farkle again.
"But I think I owe someone else a chance."
Before Lucas could respond my dad walked in front of the class and stood there for a moment. He didn't say anything, but his face was telling the story. He's proud of us.
"We present our projects tomorrow. I can't begin to describe how proud I am of all of you for working so hard."
Maya turned around and smiled at me, I returned it.
"Last day with your groups, make it count."
Maya
No one said anything. Just like the first day of the project, except this time I don't wanna kill all of them.
"I'm gonna miss you guys."
Lucas, out of all people said with a smile.
"Where are we going Friar?"
Farkle looked up from his desk.
"After the projects over, there's no need for us to be together anymore."
Riley laughed and I laughed along with her.
"Farkle, we live in the same house and pretty soon Lucas and Maya will be step-siblings. There's plenty of reasons to hang out."
I nodded with Riley. Mr.Matthews walked over to us and turned to me.
"So, Miss Hart. Have all these problems been buried, or did you dig them up?"
I looked at Farkle. His blue eyes and new haircut popped out at me.
"Farkle Minkus used to be a friendless, shy and abused kid who was afraid of conflict."
Mr.Matthews shrugged.
"And your point is?"
I smiled.
"Now he's a strong man who isn't afraid to stand up to anyone who gets in the way of his family and friends."
I turned to Lucas next.
"Ranger Rick here used to be an ass with a cocky attitude."
Lucas frowned at me confused.
"Except it turns out Lucas is...a really nice guy who's found better ways to solve his problems than lashing out. But he can still have an attitude sometimes."
Mr.Matthews laughed and shook his head at me. Riley straightened her posture.
"And what about me? Have I changed?"
I gave a heavy sigh, I really shouldn't say this stuff in front of a teacher.
"Oh my darling you have taken me through hell and back. Not only have we been bitches to each other, kept ridiculous secrets and dragged everyone through awful conflict, but I've never had such a reliable friend. Sure you fell for a douche bag of a guy and care a lot about your body image, but I had to dig through the dirt before I could find the buried treasure."
Everyone smiled at me and I knew for once everything turned out okay.
"What about you?"
I looked at Matthews and shrugged. I don't have an answer for that.
"She started out as a snappy bitch who hated all of us."
Lucas stated.
"But then her true colors showed. And we all saw how much she cared about us."
Farkle added.
"Even when she didn't want us to know."
Riley finished. Matthews nodded.
"A+. Beautiful presentation."
Only now did I notice everyone was staring, even Charlie. The bell rang and we all got up. I walked out of the classroom, but my arm was yanked to the lockers.
"Hello Friar."
He smiled.
"You ready for the wedding this weekend?"
I shrugged.
"Ready as I'll ever be."
"Hey."
Lucas lifted my chin with his finger.
"I don't like to see my sister pouting."
