My favorite Christmas song is Silent Night so I figured let's put it in the chapter. Oh and I REFUSE TO PUT A SNOW STORM IN THIS CHAPTER BECAUSE THE WEATHER WHERE I LIVE IS WARM AND ITS RAINING AND I HATE IT. SO I THOUGHT THE CHARACTERS COULD ILLUSTRATE MY PAIN OF NOT HAVING A WHITE CHRISTMAS:(
And thank you to fanficdragons for nominating me for some fanfic of the week thing. All my readers are so sweet:)
AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS CHAPTER BECAUSE ITS LONG AS CHEESE!

Maya
I looked out the window and watched as people ran past the building, barely noticing it's great majesty. That's why I hate the holidays. People are too wrapped up in their own little lives to notice anything else. I looked up higher at the dull, gray sky. No snow this year, just rain or really high temperatures.

It's Christmas Eve and I've never felt less Christmassy than I do right now. Last year I was in my upscale apartment opening the dozens of presents my dad gave me to buy back my love. It didn't work, but at least he tried. Now I'm stuck with the Matthews and there's already enough people living there. No need to get the little runaway girl any Christmas presents.

I heard the pattering of footsteps coming down the hall. Oh crap they found me.
"Uh hi Maya, what are you doing here?"
I spun my head around and locked eyes with Lucas, who was standing in the doorway holding a gym bag. He's definitely not who I expected to see. I stepped off the desk and walked towards him.
"Did they send you out looking for me? Did they think if anyone can make Maya go to her dads house, it'll be the moral compass Lucas? Well they guessed wrong."
Lucas raised an eyebrow at my bizarre outburst.
"Moral compass? Look I didn't come to take you to your dads house. I've learned to not try to make Maya Hart do anything she doesn't want to do."
He pointed to his bruised eye, I gave a sheepish grin.
"Oh right, sorry about that. Why are you here then?"
Lucas held up his gym bag.
"Forgot my baseball equipment."
I looked at him suspiciously. He caved in.
"I might be hiding from my mom too. She's crazy with all these wedding plans and I was getting suffocated."
I cringed.
"Is my dad there too?"
Lucas dropped his bag and sat next to me.
"Yeah and he's even worse than my mom! He keeps saying money can buy everything you want sweetheart. Ugh it's disgusting!"
I could feel my eyes fill with tears. My vision became blurred.
"Maya? What's wrong?"
I grabbed my coat and stood up.
"I should probably go. They close school over winter break for a reason."
I stepped out the door, but at that moment the lights clicked off and everything became pitch black.
"Ahhh!!!"
I ran back into the classroom. Lucas was crouched on top of a desk with his baseball bat in hand.
"What?!"
He pointed over against the wall.
"I-I thought that coat rack was Freddie Krooger."
I rolled my eyes and grabbed the bat out of his hands.
"Come on let's go turn the power back on."
Lucas jumped down to the floor and crouched behind me.
"Maybe the guy who's not carrying a baby should lead the way into a dark-"
I whipped my body back around, almost whacking Lucas with the bat.
"WHO SAID IM CARRYING A BABY?!"
I screamed making an echo throughout the school.
"Um I might've seen the pregnancy test from the ski lodge."
I smacked him on the arm.
"Ow! Just because we're gonna be siblings doesn't mean you can keep beating me up!"
"You idiot! That wasn't my pregnancy test! Lana is pregnant."
He looked down and played with his fingers.
"Oh. That would explain why Lana is getting fatter and you're not...."
I rolled my eyes once again.
"Come on let's get out of here."
We stepped into the hallway and started walking towards the door. It really is hard to see in here.
"What was that?"
Lucas's head perked up.
"Shut up Friar and stay behind me."
We continued walking and I could finally see the light of the door.
"Finally!"
I ran to it and pushed it open, but it wouldn't budge.
"What the heck?!"
I yelled. By now Lucas had caught up with me.
"Allow the man with muscles to open the door."
I stepped back and watched Lucas awkwardly push on the door. Failing to open it just like I.
"Hm some muscles."
Lucas pushed his face against the door, fogging up the glass.
"Yeah it's raining really hard and I think the doors frozen shut."
I crossed my arms. Of course the one day it's below 40 degrees and the door decides to freeze shut.
"Great now we're stuck in here on Christmas Eve."
Lucas sighed heavily.
"Why do we always get stuck together on holidays?!"
