Chapter 150: Bound by What Remains
Night time had descended upon the Mansion and its residents. With an impromptu dinner being handled by Ram and Petra alone, YN had helped out where he could, prepping and setting the table.
Even though Frederica had elected to take her dinner in her own room, she was more than willing to tell everyone that she was just fine, and they needn't worry about her in excess. "I was just shaken up, thankfully worse hadn't happened."
It had taken some convincing too, but Frederica had eventually accepted tomorrow's arrangements that YN had decided on. Finally, she had only relented at Algol's own pleading. Once more, the young spirit being the doppelganger she was to the sibling's grandmother had its advantages.
By this hour, most of the Mansion's residents had retired to their own quarters for the night, however, a small, off-the-record meeting was still taking place.
Clind: —Nothing more than that occurred. The magicreation tools have remained docile since. Report.
Adjusting his monocle, Roswaal's confidant had aptly reported the day's troubling events here in the Margrave's study.
Sat in his office chair, facing away from the indigo-haired butler, whilst rolling about a glass of wine in his hand, Roswaal turned his gaze to the large glass window behind him, to the full moon outside; the only source of light that illuminated the study.
Roswaal: 'Strange that the Rare Blood would ultimately be the cause for such a unforseeeeeen event. That unfortunately was something Emilia-sama would not have known about Frederica, hence you returned to speak to me?
Indeed, against what he had told Emilia, he had in fact come in person to the Mansion to speak with Roswaal anyway, albeit, he had only done so much, much later that very evening.
Bowing as he answered his employer though, Clind explained himself.
Clind: Annerose-sama had expected me back at a determined time earlier. Should I ever vary by even a few minutes when promised, she may get... upset. Punctual.
Roswaal: But of course. At this hour, your disappearance shouldn't be of any issue. Such information to be relayed to me in invaaaaaaluable.
Straightening his posture now that he had been praised by Roswaal, Clind's expression remained neutral nonetheless, waiting for the Margrave to speak again, or dismiss him.
Roswaal: Today's events certainly lead me to one conclusion; we must be better prepared for the inevitable struggles in the future.
Clind: ...And I must understand that the Master has already envisioned a plan for this? Inquiry.
With a lamenting sigh, Roswaal held a hand to his chest, whereby the mark of the curse that had been inset upon him around a month ago still remained.
Roswaal: Certain... conditions will not allow me to be as forthcoming with more effective measures, so, we must embrace more praaaaaactical ones.
As a sip of wine from the glass passed over his lips, Roswaal turned, set the glass on his desk, and looked at Clind.
Roswaal: Our resident Knight will need training. I would like to task you with the goal of enstrengthening him in not just the physical sense, but tactfully and pragmatically too. His own natural abilities may be limited, especially into what they can hope to blossom into, but anything to help Emilia-sama will be one headache less to have in the future, I am sure.
Bowing again, Clind agreed.
Clind: I shall evaluate his current talents and formulate the appropriate curriculum for him. Educate.
