It's two hours before the show and I still short on five star constellations to finish my final deck. Another bad news, I am running out of constellations to make up. I already did all of the animals and mystical creatures. I even made up some constellations based on everyday objects. I had an amusing moment with one of the constellations which looked like an iPhone. Whatever. Did not give a fuck then, still not give a fuck now. Now I'm scanning frantically around the room to find some inspirations. Chair? Flowers? Coat? Damn, I have to start taking this task seriously or the deck would look like an IKEA catalog.
My chocolate colored eyes wandering to the group of models making their way to the fitting room. Actually I am looking for a specific blond hair with her endless legs. Nope, just your ordinary gorgeous-as-hell-but-not-so-interesting models. I sigh in disappointment when I didn't find what I am looking for. Probably she is lounging in her private changing room, not bothering to mingle with common people like I am.
"Is there really any star constellations looking like an iPhone?" Cara cannot hide amusement in her tone.
"Of course." I turn back to face the beauty I am longing to see. "It is the star of cooler-than-life people."
My grin is getting wider when I hear her delightful laugh. I would love to hear her laugh every day for the rest of my life. Ha, who wouldn't? She shakes her head and points at me accusingly. "You're not supposed to make star constellations up, Jess."
I shrug dismissively at her comment, since I know that nobody is going to bother to check the sky for the credibility of my made up constellations. But I have to admit that the iPhone one pushed things too far.
"I am not an astronomer. Sue me if you care." Cara is still laughing while shaking her head at my ignorant efforts to make the starry deck looks legit. "Well, those could be funny Easter eggs and trivia for the show for all I care."
"Yes, that's better." She nods, her dazzling smile still showing on her face, making me completely breathless. "Let's pretend that it is your intention from the start."
"Okay. I still have to make up five more constellations." I glance at her. "Any ideas?"
She's furrowing her eyebrows, taking my question seriously. After a while, she gives me her trademark mischievous smile. "Bacon. For sure."
I grin back at her. "Consider it's done. I will make it for your sake. Any other requests?"
"Surprise me."
"Like you would have time to enjoy the design once you are standing there." I scoff, knowing for sure that nobody will not give any attention to my work.
"That's probably true. But it doesn't mean that I can't enjoy it later, right?" Cara winks at me, making me feel better that at least one person would care.
"If you say so." Her sweet gesture is rewarded with my best sweet smile. "Hey, aren't you supposed to be at the backstage area right now?"
"Yeah. I just want to see you before the show. You know, for a good luck charm."
I blush furiously at her comment. She can't be serious about that, right? She's only messing with my mind and heart. God, this temporary ego boost would hurt later, but I don't care. I should enjoy the attention while it lasts. Cara goes to the backstage area after I bid her good luck. Okay, five more constellations to go.
