Separated from my Sister

After I closed the door, I knelt next to it, crying. I thought about what Paolo said about Selena, he mentioned the word secret. Was she using me to get to something? What if I've rejected Elsa for someone bad for me? What was I doing? How was I going to find my father now?

"Hey... Jace." I looked up to see Luke. I didn't say anything so he continued: "I'm sorry about what happened there, in San Francisco. We shouldn't have been fighting for something so stupid."

I found myself smiling, after what he did to me, I said: "Don't worry about it."

"He's your uncle," Luke said, "right?"

"Yes he is. You're studying here?"

"Yes I am." He said kneeling next to me. It was when I understood what Paolo was trying to say when he mentioned students from the WI. He was talking about Luke.
I wanted to ask him about Selena but couldn't find the courage. That's when Selena appeared in the corridor running toward me.

"Come on Jace! We need to leave now!" She yelled. I looked at her wide eyed.

"What's going on?" Luke asked getting to his feet.

"I don't have time to explain. We need to go NOW!" Selena yelled back.

I stood up glaring at her. I wanted to ask her a lot of questions, but she grabbed my arm and ran. Luke followed. We ran down the stairs, Selena still pulling me by my arm. I saw the exit door, but before we crossed it, I stopped.

"What's wrong with you?" Selena asked me.

"Kate. Where is she?" I yelled at her.

Selena stared at me. After an awkward silence, she said: "What's wrong with you Jace? Why are you looking at me like that?"

I didn't want to answer her, but then I heard myself saying: "Who are you?"

That's when something exploded behind me, and I could only see black smoke.

"We must leave!" Selena cried.

"But Kate!" I yelled.

"I'll go find her." Luke said, "You guys get out of here before this whole place turns to ashes." And he ran and disappeared in the dark smoke.
Selena took my hand and dragged me to the door. We got out of the WI when I looked back, tears falling down my face.

"Hey," I heard Selena trying to comfort me, "Luke's after her. You must trust him now."

I couldn't believe Luke was trying to put his life in danger to save my sister. He truly loved her. But then my thoughts turned to Selena. Who was she? I had to know.

"You're not studying here?" I asked her.

She looked down. She did that a lot when she's thinking. Finally she said: "No I don't. Anyway, not anymore."

"Why? You used to study here!"

Selena glared at me and asked: "What do you want exactly?

I was staring at her, thinking about a question to ask. Then I began laughing. I don't know why but I was.

Selena's expression turned more serious: "You really need to see a doctor!"

I stopped laughing and grabbed her arm tightly.
"Ow Jace!" Selena yelled, "What's wrong with you?"

I ignored the people shouting around me. I smiled and said: "Who's side are you on?"

Selena glared at her arm where I grabbed her, then she looked at me and replied coldly: "All I know is that you don't want me on the opposite side." She slapped me in the face and said: "But I am!"
