After being at home for a week, I was off to LA to attend the 5th annual Streamy Awards. I was nervous. I was asked to perform and I was also going out for the first time since I broke up with Harry.
I arrived the day before the award show and headed straight to my aunts house. Once I was all settled in and spent some time with my family, I went to the rehearsal. I was greeted by Tyler Oakley as soon as I walked in the door with Raina. Grace Helbig then came over to say hi. I'd never met her before, so it was so amazing talking with her. She was so sweet and friendly. I talked with Chester See too, who came over to tell Grace something.
I watched some of the rehearsal until I was sent backstage to get my in-ears set up since my mom had just arrived with my equipment. I was suddenly nervous as I was handed my microphone. I made the decision this morning to sing a song that I'd only wrote and recorded three days ago. I wasn't having a band, it was just me and two dancers that had surprisingly agreed to create a choreography in less than twenty four hours and preform it tomorrow night.
I ran through the song three or four times, since I've only run through it two times prior to today. Based off of how high my nerves were during rehearsal, my nerves will eat me alive during the live show.
After I finished up, Tyler came over to give me another hug. "Girl, that song is beautiful! I love it so much."
"Thank you," I smile. "That really means a lot."
He glances at me for a moment. "I feel like you need a night out but you aren't legal here... I'll think of something. Are you free tonight?"
"My cousins and I are going bowling. You should totally come though. And Grace can too. And Chester can come, but I'm pretty sure he's connected to Grace's hip so there's no option anyway."
"Yes! That will be so much fun. And we can talk about all of the juicy drama we all have. I have to go, but text me details, okay?"
I laugh lightly and nod. "Okay. I'll see you tonight."
Just like we planned, Tyler, Grace and Chester met us at the bowling alley that night. I was able to vent to Raina and John and have some extra advice from people who are older than us and have had more experiences.
"I'm shocked," Grace says as I sit down after my turn bowling. "I always saw pictures of you guys and just thought you were one of the greatest couples. And from what Tyler has told me about you guys, I know you guys love each other a lot. Not to mention how Harry treated you. From my experience, that's somebody to keep. Communication arguments can be so stupid, God, so stupid sometimes. I think that's really all that went wrong. There wasn't enough communication in the last few days together based off of what you were saying."
"So do you think I should call him?"
"No," she shakes her head. "Let him go. If he comes back to you, he's the right one. If not, then look at it as a situation where everything happens for a reason. I know it hurts, but I've been in a similar situation. It gets better, I promise you."

"Morning, Ava," John smiles at me as I walk into the kitchen. "You ready to perform tonight?"
I shake my head as I sit down. He's making coffee and offers me some. I decline and sigh. "I don't know. I think I'm ready. I'm just so incredibly nervous. This is kind of my first big thing since... Well, you know. And I'm scared. What if I don't have the same amount of support now that I'm not involved with the boys? It's not like I was using them in the first place, but I'm not going to deny that I gained a lot of my support because of them."
"I think everything's going to be fine no matter what happens. And the split from the boys will make your true fans shine through. Don't worry about it."
