{30}Even if It kills me

Ravens POV

I watched carefully as my mother pressed a wet rag against Skye's forehead. Mother gently put the thermometer in Skye's mouth and looked at the number it read.

"101. This is no good." She muttered to herself. I stared wide eyed as Skye whined in her sleep. Sweat dripped on the pillow below her head. I grew more worried as my little sister winced and shifted to her left.

"Watch carefully now Raven. You might have to do this someday." Mother spoke kindly, but it sounded like she was saying goodbye.

"Mama, When is Father getting home?" I asked whilst tilting my head.  She smiled and pushed my hair behind my ear.

"Don't worry about him. He is going to be gone tonight" She replied, her smile staying on her lips.

"Okay mama. When will Nii-Chan get better?"  I asked, moving on ahead to the next subject.

"I don't know honey. Perhaps after a nap she will feel better." Mama informed me. That sounded good. Skye is only a little girl, as am I, but Skye is my little sister and I will take care of her.

I moved on my knees to the other side of the kitchen and got a bottle of medicine that was sitting on the counter. I waddled back to my mother and poked her arm softly.

"Mama." I spoke and showed her the box of purple medicine.

She smiled and let out a laugh. I smiled back at her. My mother hadn't laughed in a while.

"No Raven. That's For daddy." She explained. I tilted my head but nodded anyways. Father got more than us, but in this case it was probably just the fact that the medicine was for adults.

"Alright mama."

I woke up in a unpleasant heat. I couldn't open my eyes, but I could feel the familiar feel if the hospital bed. Despite the feeling like I was on fire, somehow , I was freezing. I clutched the blanket that was draped over me, but still didn't have enough energy or willpower to open my eyes.

I felt a warm feeling over one of my hands and my first thought was Skye, but the hand was far too large to be hers. I couldn't figure out who it was right away.

"Is she alright?" Someone asked. I think it was Kaoru. I couldn't be sure though.

There was flipping of papers and then a pause.

"She's fine." A sigh of relief. "Just a little stress and then it's about allergy season. She seems like someone who would get sick easily... Are you a family member?"

"No but her sister is on the way." Kaoru  -I think- answered.

"I'll come back in a minute then." The nurse replied before the sound of a door shutting and silence.

Not much later the door slammed open again and it sounded like a herd of animals walking in. It must have been the Host club.

"Nii-Chan!" Skye's voice pierced through the air.

"Calm down. It's probably just a cold." Hikaru muttered.

The warmth was removed from my hand and I frowned. Slowly I opened my eyes. It was bright for the first couple of seconds, then it cleared up.

Skye was to my right. Kaoru was in the chair on the left. Haruhi stood beside Skye, and Honey stood at the edge of the bed alongside Hikaru. The rest of the baboons were missing.

"Raven?" Haruhi asked with concern. I turned to face her and raised an eyebrow.

"What?" I mumbled.
