'You've done really well today,' Carole, Ecie's therapist, smiled. 'I think you've had a good week.'
Ecie nodded and smiled back at Carole. 'Thank you so much for helping me.'
'It is nothing at all,' Carole replied. 'We'll meet at the same time on Thursday?'
Ecie nodded. 'I'll be on time.'
'You're doing so well with all of this,' Carole said. 'I think you've really progressed a lot since we first met.'
Ecie picked up her bag and smiled at Carole. 'See you on Thursday.'
Ecie left the building and made her way down the street to a waiting car. She climbed in and put on her seatbelt.
'How was it?' Ross asked pulling away from the curb.
'It was great,' Ecie replied. 'It sure beats crying all the time.'
Ross laughed a little. 'So what do we do now?'
'We go home,' Ecie replied. 'I need to take a nap and finish my homework.'
Ross looked across at his younger sister. Ecie's face had healed and it was hard to imagine that four months ago she had been in hospital.
'What?' Ecie laughed nervously. 'Do I have something on my face?'
'No,' Ross smiled. 'I'm happy to have you back in my car.'
'Okay Ross,' Ecie said looking at Ross weirdly. 'Are you okay?'
'Yeah,' Ross nodded. He cleared his throat then looked ahead. 'Do you miss going to school?'
'I think it was a good idea for me to finish the semester at home,' Ecie replied. 'I get to wake up later and I have more free time.'
'Yeah,' Ross nodded. 'That must be good.'
'Yep.'
They sat in the car in silence for a few minutes. Ecie looked out of her window and saw people walking in different directions. She traced her index finger along the cold glass and sighed.
'Do you want to grab a bite to eat?' Ross asked.
'Don't you need to get home to your girlfriend?' Ecie said. 'I wouldn't want to keep you from Emily.'
'Do you like her?'
'Oh yes,' Ecie nodded smiling at Ross. 'I totally love her. She is so cool, and did you see what her dad did? He fixed me right up. I look as good as new.'
'Yeah you are looking better,' Ross nodded. 'Do you really like her or is it just because I broke up with Chelsea and you really hated her.'
'I really like Emily,' Ecie said. 'She's really nice and she has some pretty cool clothes.'
'There was a time when you hated Monday's,' Ross said turning a corner. 'You hated them with such a passion.'
'What's that supposed to mean?' Ecie asked hitting Ross playfully.
'Today you are so happy,' he replied. 'Today you're actually being nice about my girlfriend. This is definitely a new day.'
