'The birds and the bees,' Esme read sitting on her sister's bed. 'I still can't believe mom went through all that trouble just to have a stupid sex ed talk.'

Ecie laughed a little. 'You know mom, she loves to give a presentation.'

Esme looked at her sister who was sat across from her in a big cushion chair with her wrist in a cast, her fingers taped together, a plaster and stitches over her eye and a cast over her ankle. She couldn't help but feel uneasy.

'Do you want to meet Eric?' Ecie asked. 'I know it's been a couple days, but I don't know how I feel about it. What if he's some really buff god?'

'Ecie,' Esme laughed. 'I doubt that.'

'Imagine his toned torso and he's so ripped you want to kill yourself,' Ecie went on. 'His face is something carved from marble and he makes your heart beat so fast you wish you were dead and he just melts everywhere.'

Esme laughed as her sister went on in detail about what she thought Eric would be like.

'I bet he drives a Maserati and he lives in a big mansion in the Hollywood hills,' Ecie said. 'I bet he's absolutely loaded and everything mom hates in a guy.'

Esme laughed.

'Esme,' Ecie said suddenly. 'I think I may be in love with mom's boyfriend.'

Esme and Ecie both burst into fresh peals of laughter.

'When do you think we'd have to meet him?' Esme asked slowly coming out of her laughing fit.

'I don't know,' Ecie replied. 'I just hope it's not too soon. I still need to cool down.'

'I would totally stalk Eric,' Esme said. 'You know, just to make sure he's a normal guy.'

'Yeah,' Ecie agreed. 'Did mom say which restaurant he works in?'

Esme shook her head. 'She only said he was a chef.'

'We have to find out,' Ecie said. 'I want to see him.'

'I have a plan,' Esme said cunningly. 'We pump mom for information, but we can't be too obvious.'

'Okay,' Ecie nodded. 'Then once we've got all the info we need, we'll follow him and see what he's like, before we officially meet him.'

'Ecie,' Esme said slowly. 'What if we get caught?'

'Mom says we should never be ashamed or embarrassed,' Ecie smiled. 'If we get caught then we'll have a plan b.'

Esme grinned back her sister.

Esme and Ecie moved around the dining room setting the table up for dinner at their father's house whilst Clive, the live-in chef and housekeeper, worked on dinner in the kitchen.

Jonathon walked into the dining room doing his last button. 'Girls.'

'Hey dad,' they smiled.

'When did you get here?'

'About half an hour ago,' Esme replied hugging her dad. He kissed her on her head. 'We just thought we should start setting up.'

'How are you?' Jonathon asked hugging Ecie and kissing the top of her head.

'I'm fine,' Ecie nodded. 'You know how these things go.'

Jonathon nodded. 'Well it looks like you girls have done an amazing job.'

'I do my best with one hand,' Ecie joked.

'How is your break going?' Esme asked.

'Great,' Jonathon nodded. 'I'm thinking of making it a little permanent.'
