'It was nice of Eric to invite us out again,' Esme said doing her makeup in the bathroom she shared with Ecie. 'I feel kind of bad for spying on him.'
Ecie laughed. 'But it was totally worth it.'
'Do you think he knows?' Esme asked looking at her sister.
'Maybe we should ask him,' Ecie joked. 'See what he says.'
'We can't say anything,' Esme laughed. 'Mom would kill us.'
'I know, right,' Ecie laughed. 'We had some fun times.'
'We have, haven't we,' Esme replied. 'I kind of wish we could do stuff like that all the time.'
'We've got our freshmen year of college in September,' Ecie replied. 'We get to start over again and have even more fun.'
'I hope we got in; I have no idea when we're going to find out if we got in or not,' Esme said.
'We'll get in,' Ecie replied.
Esme nodded. 'You look cute.'
'Thank you,' Ecie replied. 'I feel so sad that everyone is going to have a date and I'll be the only singleton.'
Esme laughed. 'You should revel in being alone.'
'Oh yeah,' Ecie laughed. 'Whilst you, mom and Ross all have dates and I'm sat alone playing with the tablecloth.'
'You could call Verd,' Esme suggested.
'He's having dinner with his aunt tonight,' Ecie replied. 'I am going to be so alone...'
'Hang on a second,' Esme said hearing her iPhone 4 ring. 'I need to get this,' she ran into her room and picked up her cell phone. 'Hey Taylor.'
'Hey,' he replied. 'Are you getting ready for dinner now?'
'Yeah,' Esme replied. 'I think we'll be leaving soon and a car is coming to pick us up, so you should hurry up if you want to come over with us.'
'I don't think I can make it tonight,' Taylor replied. 'Something came up and it's really important.'
'Okay Taylor,' Esme replied shifting a little. 'That's cool.'
'I know you're upset Es,' he said. 'I'm really sorry but I can't get out of this.'
'No, no its fine,' Esme replied. 'I've got to go, so I'll call you later.'
'Es,' Taylor said quickly. 'Don't be mad...'
'I'm not mad,' Esme replied. 'I understand. Something came up and you need to attend to it. I totally understand. Anyway, it's just dinner; it's not like its anything important. You've come to loads of family meals.'
'I know you're upset...'
'I am not upset,' Esme said. 'It's fine, I don't care.'
'You're doing that thing you do when you're mad at me,' Taylor said. 'I don't want to leave you on the phone when you're still pissed at me.'
'Taylor,' Esme said. 'It's cool that you're not coming. In fact it's kind of perfect because E doesn't have a person to go with, so now we can go together. Everything worked out perfectly Taylor.'
'So I'll come round tomorrow and see you?'
'Sure Taylor,' Esme replied. 'Well I've got to go so I'll see you soon.' Esme hung up and went back into the bathroom.
'Was that Taylor?' Ecie asked looking at her sister's reflection in the mirror. 'What did he say?'
'He's not coming to dinner tonight,' Esme replied finishing her makeup. 'It's totally fine.'
