'We need to get loads of bikinis,' Joey said as she went shopping with Ecie. 'Cabo is going to be so much fun.'
'I know,' Ecie replied pushing clothes along the rack. 'I've been waiting for it for so long.'
'What do you think of this?' Joey asked taking out a polka dot triangle bikini top.
'I'm not really into having designs and things on a bikini,' Ecie replied. 'I prefer the really simple stuff.'
'Sara and Paul had the biggest fight after school,' Joey said looking at the different bikinis. 'He said some really nasty stuff.'
'What stuff did he say?'
'He said stuff like "you're trying to get off with all of my friends" and stuff like she's nothing without him and that she tries so hard to fit in with everyone all the time,' Joey replied. 'He was so brutal.'
'What did she do?'
'She just sort of stood there taking it,' Joey replied. 'Then she was like "you're such a loser no other girl would even bother putting up with you for this long, I don't see why I did". They were just yelling at each for about an hour.'
'Were there loads of people there?'
'Not a lot of people,' Joey replied. 'But I think there were enough people to spread it around the whole school.'
'Are they going to Cabo together as a couple?' Ecie asked taking down a beach cover up. 'This is cute.'
'I don't think so,' Joey replied. 'Sara wanted to pull out of the trip, but she couldn't get her eight hundred dollars back.'
'That sucks,' Ecie said. 'They're going to have to see each other every day for a whole week.'
'I know,' Joey said. 'But did you hear them on the boat coming back from Catalina? They just yell at each all day and give each other hell.'
'It's kind of funny,' Ecie replied. 'They are such a cute couple.'
Joey shrugged. 'There are no good bikinis here. Do you want to check out some other stores?'
'Yeah,' Ecie replied. They left the store and went into another. 'Did you tell Owen yet?'
'He planned the most romantic dinner last night,' Joey replied. 'There were candles and incense and everywhere was completely covered in rose petals. It was the sweetest thing any guy has ever done for me.'
'Did he cook for you?'
'He ordered food from this really expensive restaurant,' Joey replied. 'He said I was the most amazing girl in the world and that he was so lucky to have me in his life. He was like "you're really important to me and I don't want to ever lose you"; then you'll never believe what he did.'
'What?'
'He took out this black box and gave me this,' Joey said taking out a Solange Azagury-Partridge heart of gold eighteen karat gold and ruby necklace. 'I was so shocked.'
Ecie looked at the necklace then touched it. 'Is that a human heart?'
'It's made out of gold and ruby,' Joey replied tucking the necklace back into her multicolored Tara Matthews silk strapless maxi dress. 'I didn't even know what to say. He totally surprised me.'
'So you didn't tell him?'
'I had no idea what to say,' Joey replied. 'I was so dumbfounded. I've never been more speechless in my entire life.'
'He is such a jerk,' Sara said shopping with Esme. 'All he does is overreact to everything. He is so paranoid.'
'You and Paul are like the dream high school couple,' Esme replied. 'You've been friends for ages and then you started dating. Didn't I say last year, he's bound to feel a little insecure.'
'Yeah but that's no excuse to start throwing around totally ludicrous accusations,' Sara replied. 'He really hurt my feelings. He was just so angry.'
'Have you talked to him since?'
Sara shook his head. 'I haven't seen him either. I think that all I want to do is break up with him. I've had enough of this.'
'But I know that he loves you and you love him too,' Esme said. 'Do you think that you guys might be able to work?'
'No,' Sara shook her head. 'When we get to Cabo I'm going to break up with him; then he'll really see me hooking up with other guys. God he is such a pig.'
Esme looked at her best friend and sighed. 'Maybe breaking up with him in Cabo might not be such a great idea.'
'Why not?'
'It would be so awkward,' Esme replied. 'All of your friends will be there and there'll be this atmosphere. It could ruin everyone's holiday.'
'I can't stand this,' Sara said annoyed. 'Paul always has to ruin everything. He always has to make sure I'm completely miserable.'
'You should talk to him,' Esme said. 'You shouldn't leave it til Cabo.'
'I've got nothing to say to him.'
Esme looked at her friend again. 'We should get some really sexy outfits for Cabo,' she said. 'I think we'll be eating out every night and I've heard that the nightclubs are really cool.'
Sara grinned. 'We're going to cause so much trouble this week.'
'I know,' Esme laughed. 'It's going to be so much fun.'
'Well you can't have too much fun,' Sara said. 'You've got Taylor waiting at home.'
'I wish he was coming too,' Esme replied. 'But he doesn't like hanging out with high schoolers. He'd feel like a total loser if he came.'
Sara laughed. 'How do you think he feels dating a girl still in high school?'
Esme hit Sara playfully. 'I'm not that much of a loser.'
Sara and Esme laughed.
'Ooh look at this,' Sara said holding up a black Rachel Gilbert Dakota embellished silk-tulle mini dress. 'This is what we're looking for.'
'It's so cute,' Esme said. 'I think I might get it.'
'Oh no,' Sara said. 'This hottie is all mine.'
'Fine,' Esme stuck out her bottom lip. 'I'll find myself something else.'
'You're going to want something that's easy to dance in,' Sara grinned. 'I want to do loads of dancing so that Paul knows just what he's missing.'
'I hope this trip won't just be about you trying to make Paul jealous,' Esme said. 'I want a drama free holiday.'
'I promise,' Sara said smiling wickedly. 'There will be zero drama.'
