'This is just what I needed,' Ecie sighed peacefully as she lay on a table getting a massage at the Spa Del Sol. 'This is really good.'
'I wish I had these done more often,' Joey agreed. 'These are so good especially after practice.'
'Yeah,' Ecie nodded. 'I'll remember that for college.'
'Have you heard from any of them yet?' Joey asked.
'No,' Ecie replied. 'But I'm really praying on USC though. It's been my dream school for longer than I can remember.'
Joey looked across at her best friend and pouted, sticking out her bottom lip. 'We're going to get separated.'
'I know,' Ecie said pouting as well. 'That really sucks.'
Joey nodded. 'I don't want you to find a Joey replacement.'
'Never,' Ecie said. 'Don't find yourself an Ecie replacement either.'
'I won't,' Joey replied. 'Ohio is like two thousand miles away from LA. We're going to be so far away from each other.'
'When do you think you'll come home?'
'Probably thanksgiving,' Joey replied. 'That's when everyone comes home. You're lucky that you can come home whenever you like.'
'I really wish you would transfer.'
'I'll transfer if Ohio is really sucky,' Joey replied. 'I don't want to stay in a place longer than a semester if I really don't like it. But Ohio has a really good squad and I'm in with a good chance of getting on it if I practice loads over the summer.'
'You'll get on the squad,' Ecie said. 'Maybe we'll play each other.'
'That would be so great,' Joey grinned. 'But I know how competitive we can get.'
'I know,' Ecie laughed. 'It can sometimes get quite messy.'
'But we've always been on the same side,' Joey said. 'It's going to be weird being against you.'
'I bet we'll end up working in the same law firm,' Ecie laughed. 'And I bet we'll spend freshmen summer doing a placement at the same place.'
'I know,' Joey laughed. 'We're always lucky like that.'
'Hang on a second,' Ecie said. 'My cell phone is ringing,' she stretched her arm and reached for her black BlackBerry Torch 9800. 'Hey dad.'
'How are you?' Jonathon asked. 'How's it going?'
'It's only been a day,' Ecie replied. 'Me and Joey are getting massages at the spa.'
'How was your first night?'
'It was good, dad,' Ecie said. 'Are you planning on coming here?'
'I'll leave you and Esme to have fun by yourselves,' Jonathon said. 'I just wanted to check in with you.'
'Well things are good,' Ecie replied. 'Me and Joey are going to spend the morning and part of the afternoon in the spa then we're all going out tonight.'
'Okay then,' Jonathon said. 'Well I'll leave you to enjoy the rest of your massage.'
'Love you dad,' Ecie said.
'Love you too honey.'
'Your dad is so sweet,' Joey said as Ecie hung up and threw her BlackBerry into her bag. 'It's nice of him to call you.'
'He only calls when he's bored or lonely,' Ecie laughed. 'It's not out of love or anything.'
Joey and Ecie laughed.
Esme and Sara lay outside by the pool for a second day talking and gossiping.
'I heard some superstar is staying at the hotel,' Sara said untying the back of her brown Grenadine Heidi Klein bikini. 'Apparently he's a famous singer.'
'Who is it?' Esme asked. 'I know you always know who everyone is.'
Sara shook her head coyly. 'I don't know.'
'Oh come on Sara,' Esme laughed. 'I know you know. Who is it? Just tell me.'
'Okay then,' Sara grinned sitting up and swinging her legs over the side of her lounger. 'Promise me that you won't like totally freak out.'
'I promise,' Esme grinned excitedly. She sat up to and faced Sara. 'So, who is it?'
'Simon Hoult,' Sara squealed. 'He's staying at the hotel.'
Esme squealed too. 'Seriously?'
Sara nodded. 'Would I lie to you?'
'I can't believe it,' Esme said. 'Have you seen him yet?'
Sara shook his head. 'Not yet, but he's leaving in like three days, so I think we've got enough time to scope him out.'
'Do you know why he's here?'
'I heard he's shooting a music video here,' Sara replied. 'Do you think we might get in it?'
'Oh no,' Esme said. 'You're not roping me into something like this again.'
'Oh please Es,' Sara said clasping her hands together. 'Please, it would be so much fun.'
Esme rolled her eyes smiling. 'You'll be the death of me Sara.'
