'Do you think that dad is going through some weird mid-life crisis?' Esme asked she got ready for bed.
'Who knows,' Ecie replied. 'You know how he gets when things start getting emotional. He's a total wreck.'
'I know,' Esme laughed. 'It's funny because last year he said that he wouldn't get me a new car til I was twenty one.'
'Looks like twenty one came early,' Ecie laughed. 'I think it's nice of him to want to do that for us.'
'But mom is going to get so mad about it,' Esme replied. 'You know what she's like when dad buys us really expensive stuff.'
'She thinks we don't understand the value of a dollar,' Ecie scoffed. 'It's like I work. I've got a job for crying out loud.'
'Mom has issues,' Esme laughed. 'She likes to be in control.'
'I think it's good that Eric has come into her life,' Ecie giggled. 'He's really good for her. He doesn't take any of her crap.'
Esme laughed. 'That was the wrongest sounding sentence you've ever said.'
Ecie laughed. 'But I'm totally right.'
'Yeah,' Esme nodded. 'I hope they get married. That would be the best thing to happen.'
'That's when we know Eric's turned mom into a new woman,' Ecie replied. 'I mean, did you see that thing in her room?'
'What thing?'
'Well,' Ecie grinned mischievously. 'I was in her room the other week and I saw something.'
'What did you see?'
'Nothing,' Ecie said casually. 'It was just a Tiffany's box with the biggest rock I had ever seen. I swear that thing had so many diamonds on it.'
'Are they engaged?'
'I don't think so,' Ecie replied. 'Mom would have said something by now and she'd be wearing that sparkler every day.'
'Why wouldn't she wear the ring?' Esme said. 'I mean it's obviously a present from Eric.'
'I know,' Ecie nodded. 'But mom doesn't care about stuff like that.'
'Do you know if the ring is still there?' Esme asked. 'I want to see it.'
'I'm sure we'll be able to find it on the website,' Ecie replied. 'I really don't feel like going over to moms and looking for it.'
'Okay then,' Esme said. 'Get the page open and show me this ginormaous thing.'
Ecie switched on the computer and waited for it to load up. Within minutes, they were on the internet and on the Tiffany & Co. website.
'This website makes me feel so depressed,' Esme said as they looked at the different jewelry. 'I want to get engaged and get a really big ring.'
'We should get some foil and make rings,' Ecie said looking at her sister before they both started laughing. 'That would be so funny.'
'Is that it?' Esme asked pointing at the screen.
'Nope,' Ecie replied looking at the screen. She clicked on another link then nodded. 'This is definitely the ring I saw.'
'Well of course it is,' Esme said. 'It's the most expensive one here.'
'Look at how monstrous that beast is,' Ecie said. 'I told you.'
'Eric really has turned mom into a new woman,' Esme replied. 'She would never have accepted such a thing before.'
'I could get used to having a billionaire step-dad,' Ecie nodded. 'I think that's pretty cool.'
'Yeah,' Esme nodded. 'I like it. I love the sound of Eric as our step-dad. Do you think we'd have to add his name to ours?'
'We'd have like four names,' Ecie laughed. 'We'd be known as the Woodrow-Thurgood Curtain-Wright twins. Now that is such a mouth full.'
Esme laughed. 'Esme Woodrow-Thurgood Curtain-Wright. I think it's got a bit of a ring to it. Don't you?'
Ecie laughed at her sister. 'Yeah. We should just be called WTCW; its shorter and much easier to say.'
'Could you imagine having to write that down?' Esme laughed.
'Imagine getting married again and taking his name as well,' Ecie laughed. 'Then imagine having to write that down.'
'The children,' Esme laughed. 'Oh god, what about the children. They would have the longest name in the world.'
Ecie laughed. 'They would hate you so much.'
'Hello, my name is Darcy Woodrow-Thurgood-Curtain-Wright-Rotterdam-Dale,' Esme laughed. 'My name is so long my parents thought that having any other names would be too confusing.'
'Oh Darcy,' Ecie laughed. 'Oh poor, poor Darcy. How does this make you feel?'
'It makes me feel sad because all my friends have other names and I don't,' Esme laughed. 'Maybe mom and Eric shouldn't get married.'
'You gave Darcy like six surnames,' Ecie laughed. 'That's like a sextuple-barreled name. Darcy is going to get so bullied at school for having so many.'
'Well I was hoping that my hubby would have a double-barreled name,' Esme said. 'That way Darcy would feel even more special.'
'When you date, the first thing you need to ask the guy is what his last name is,' Ecie said. 'If it's longer than three syllables, you have to dump him.'
'You too,' Esme said. 'I think we want something with one syllable.'
'Something short and sweet.'
'I'm so happy we won't have to stop doing this,' Esme grinned at her sister. 'We'll still be laughing at dumb stuff when we're in college.'
Ecie laughed. 'We'll find it so hard to make friends if they think we're freaks.'
'But we'll have each other,' Esme smiled.
'That's one thing that'll never change.'
Esme and Ecie hugged each other.
'Anyway, I've got a new car to dream about,' Esme smiled as she walked to her bed. 'I'm so excited that we get a new one.'
'Yeah,' Ecie nodded. 'It's time for a change anyway.'
'Are you going to sleep in here tonight?'
'Oh yeah,' Ecie said. 'But I don't want to sleep in your bed tonight because you haven't changed the sheets yet. I know what's been going on in that bed, and I don't like it.'
Esme laughed. 'Like you haven't done worse.'
'True,' Ecie laughed. 'I'll just go and get my stuff.'
