'Can you believe we're going to Catalina?' Esme said taking out her weekend bag and setting it on the floor of the closet she shared with her sister. 'It's going to be amazing.'
'Really?' Ecie said with a raised eye brow. 'I think I'm more looking forward to when we go to Cabo.'
'Camping is so much fun,' Esme grinned. 'I love sleeping in tents and roasting marshmallows.'
'The last time we had toasted marshmallows, we were ten and your one got all goopy so I had to give you mine,' Ecie replied. 'You sleep like a weirdo.'
Esme ignored Ecie and went over to their clothes. 'I was watching the news and they said it'd be quite hot over on Catalina.'
'Does that mean shorts?'
'Yeah,' Esme nodded. 'And we'll be camping so you won't want to wear dresses and stuff.'
Ecie pulled out some maxi dresses and skirts. 'These are really light.'
'Which bathing suits are you going to take?'
'I don't think I'll go in the water at all,' Ecie replied. 'My ankle's still messed up.'
Esme nodded. 'You know dad...'
'I don't want to hear it,' Ecie replied. 'I'm sick and tired of dad always having to know everything. Ever since his stupid holiday started he's been acting really annoying.'
Esme stared at her sister.
'Please don't look at me like that,' Ecie snapped.
Esme looked away for a moment and pulled down some more clothes. 'So do you know who else is going?'
'Verd's going,' Ecie replied. 'I think he's getting back in a couple of hours.'
'Finally,' Esme said. 'It's been so long since I've seen him.'
'I know,' Ecie said looking at some of her clothes. 'His family is totally weird at times.'
'You're telling me.'
'I think Sara and Joey are going. So is Paul, Owen, Langley, Markus Heifer and some of the football team,' Ecie replied. 'Grayson and Luke are going as well.'
'Are you and Grayson friends now?'
'We're cordial,' Ecie replied. 'I don't want any drama this weekend. We went for a coffee during the week and sorted everything out.'
'So you forgave him for being a pig and he forgave you for hurting him?'
'Yep,' Ecie nodded. 'He was telling me about his new girlfriend.'
'Was he trying to make you jealous?'
'Who cares?' Ecie laughed.
'What time did we need to meet at the harbor?'
'I think nine,' Ecie replied. 'We've got plenty of time.'
As they finished packing, Sofie stuck her head around the door.
'Hey mom.'
'Hey girls,' Sofie smiled. 'How is the packing coming along?'
'Really good,' Esme replied. 'What's up?'
'I wanted to see you before you both disappeared for the weekend,' Sofie replied. 'Are you looking forward to camping?'
'Oh yeah,' Esme replied enthusiastically. 'I can't wait to sleep in a tent.'
'How are you feeling E?' Sofie asked.
'Fine,' Ecie replied zipping her bag. 'Just can't wait to get this weekend over with.'
'Well you know, just call if there's a problem.'
'Mom, we're only away for one night.'
